What is your UW GPA?
Off the top I’d say you have a better chance at VT because you are in-state. CS is a very competitive major. It could come down to your math & science grades (especially physics).
Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are 2 totally different schools. Have you visited them?
People who like one will likely be turned off by the other.
GT is an urban engineering school ~80% stem similar to a big version of RPI, MIT.
VT is a rural state school ~35% stem similar to Iowa State, Texas A&M.
VT has twice the undergraduate population of GT.
For CS since you are instate you have about a 60% chance for VT. Less than 10% for GT, out of state and because of your gpa.
You should have a shot at VA Tech. What race are you? That might also help with diversity on campus.
for GT if you focus on non profit work, and how it will tie to what you want to do, that will give you a small chance,.
My UW GPA is like a 3.45. Yeah i figured i’d have a better shot at VT.
I’ve visited both schools and all honesty, I love both of them.
And then my race, I’m Indian so that doesn’t exactly help my case for comp sci/comp engineering.
And yeah i tried to to that in my georgia tech essays, tie my nonprofit work into my continuation of it at GT.
Thanks for the input guys.
Being Indian will help you at VT. It’s a fairly racially homogenous campus. 10% Asian, 70% Caucasian.
GT is 33% Asian, 45% Caucasian.
