I'm a mixed white-asian from the UK. I have 6 As at AS level (4As are normally considered equivalent to 4.0 GPA, but I self-taught two subjects) and an A* in maths A2, which I self-taught myself a year early. I have a 2200 SAT (760 CR, 760 maths, 680 writing) but I'm resitting it in december. I'm ranked in the top 2.7% of my year, which is one of the top 8 state schools in the UK.

In my spare time, I'm doing an honours level maths course with Britain's Open University (it's a module from the third year of their degree program, very unusual for a 17yr old to be doing it) and three edX courses (2x harvard, 1x MIT). In total, this takes 38hrs per week.

I have a 10hr per week part-time job, with which I fund the uni course mentioned above. At school, I represent my house on the school council, have arranged and conducted a variety of musical performances, have experience in debating and public speaking, I am completing the Gold DofE award, I've led a team that is having a research project published in a national publication. By december, I will have sat exams in both piano and music theory of the highest national standard. I have completed the vInpsire Gold award for community service.

I'm thinking of applying to Ivies, Stanford and MIT. Any feedback on chances of admission or improvements would be welcome.

I think you have a good shot, but just make sure that you are focusing on one passion that makes you stand out. Make sure you apply to some safeties too!

I think you have great chances at these schools! Study hard for the SAT you have coming up. Make sure you stand out in your apps with your essays and whatnot.

Best of luck to you!

I think you have a pretty good chance, up your SAT score a little if you can but if it doesn’t work out, don’t worry about it.

Your chances are lower because you’re both asian and international (the world’s unfair, unfortunately), but I think the job, university courses (if you do well in them), and especially the publication are great add-ons.

Definitely grab some safeties, I could really see you getting into a handful of ivies though. Your extracurriculars are very heavy and solid! I personally don’t know how you had time for all of it, and the fact that your grades stayed in shape will show the Ivies that you mean business! However since you are International/Asian, you really ought to look for some safety net schools just in case the Ivies find a better candidate.

You have the stats to get it, but Ivies + Stanford have so many applicants that its basically a crapshoot for anyone who applies.
If you’re only applying to schools in the US, apply to some safeties too!

Chance back? I’m applying to schools in the UK so maybe you could help me out

I would say you’re solid pretty much everywhere. I have little knowledge of ivy league admission though, I’m not quite of that caliber lol.

any more comments?

You’re definitely solid - just get the SAT scores up a little and have excellent essays!
