didnt take SAT? thats fine with act w/e

and honestly thats alot of schools to be applying to, i mean if ur essays are all good then thats fine, but i would have focused on a few schools, know their mission for my major, and really let them know i am interested in that school and not just apply to every top school and hope to get into one of them. from ur stats u have a chance, all comes down to ur essays

Duke - high reach
Brown - high reach
Carnegie Mellon - dont know
Cornell -high reach
Dartmouth -high reach
Emory -reach

Princeton - high reach
Rice - reach
Stanford - high reach

Georgetown (School of Nursing and Health) - match, but dunno about nursing
Columbia -high reach
Berkeley - match/reach
UCLA - match
UCSD - match
UCI - safety
UCR -safety

of course i could be wrong, but from people that i knew who got accepted to the top 20 schools and from stats, profiles, etc. they all excelled and they all applied to only a handful of schools from the top 20 list

I started my essays back in September and then had two weeks of time to revise anything I needed while I was recovering from my surgeries. Thanks for the chances though.

EDIT: As for Georgetown, I’m applying for their Human Science major in the School of Nursing and Health. And my main focus was on Hopkins, Duke, Princeton, and Georgetown.

You have a great profile! I’m really surprised you got deferred from JHU ED! I think you have a pretty good shot in the RD round.

I really, really, really hate to tell such a dedicated student that he might be rejected from many of his dream schools. You may be aiming too high and setting yourself up for disappointment.

Johns Hopkins - I don’t know. Intuition says that JHU is a high match, but very few applicants are ever accepted after a deferral :frowning:
Duke - low reach
Brown - high reach
Carnegie Mellon - low reach
Cornell - reach
Dartmouth - reach
Emory - low match; I know two people similar to you that got in with merit money.
Harvard - high reach
Northwestern - ?

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/846686-chance-someone-who-totally-overdid-lacs.html</a></p>

Thanks for the chances, I’ll chance you back. And I’m really hoping to be one of the few that is accepted after being deferred. I’m sending in a letter stating why I feel I would be a good student at hopkins as well as an extra letter of recommendation (also updating my resume).

EDIT: And I’m not really expecting to get into the Ivy League Universities. Applied for the heck of it because I had so much free time.

You are applying to schools all over the entire united states - west to east , north to south. You need to have more focus your applications. Your scores should get you in to one of the schools. but remember at top schools it’s always more about hook - legacy - athletics, than most anything else. better to be a sat 2100/act 30 / gpa 3.6 with generous legacy instead of a 2400 / 4.0 unhooked applicant. Try to distinguish yourself as much as possible. The medical issues could cut either way - so be careful with that, it may help, but it also may look like a sob story. just my opinion, good luck

Well, your list is really top-heavy. I understand why you did it this way. You have a good record with some interesting elements–I would say that you have a reasonable chance of getting into at least a few of your non-UC schools. But it wouldn’t be a shock (or a catastrophe) if you end up at a UC.

Thanks for the chances. As far as the medical issues go, I’m not using them as an excuse; instead, I discussed how having the surgeries makes me unique among pre-med students since most students don’t have these sort of issues at this age.

yeah…if you got deferred from hopkins with that, your essays probably were just bad or your Rec Letters or you didn’t present your ECs accurately

if that is true, some/many of those schools will be difficult

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/845323-probably-will-just-going-my-state-school-but-chance-me-these-improbable-sc.html</a></p>

Your profile on paper looks very impressive, and you seem like a very well rounded student who will do well wherever you end up.
