Well, obviously your ECs show a pronounced interest and talent in chess. Colleges will like this because it’s something very quirky/different. Additionally, too chess players are usually very good at math and have a keen understanding of game theory concepts, which means you have above-average brain power and who knows what you can do with that as a physicist, mathematician, etc. Your grades, course rigor, and test scores are all on par as well, with an upward trend in GPA. Given this, here are your chances:
UC Berkeley- match
USC- match
Johns Hopkins- high match
Washington U.- high match
Stanford- reach (as for everyone, but I think you have a better chance than most applicants
Duke- high match/low reach
Washington State University- safety
BYU- safety
Brown- low reach
Cornell- high match
UIUC- safety
I think you have a better chance than most at all of these schools given your good academics coupled with an interesting talent.
you have a GREAT upward trend and really focused ECs.
UC Berkeley- high match /low reach
USC- high match
Johns Hopkins- reach
Washington U.- high match
Stanford - reach- this school can be a crapshoot. it’ll come down to recs and essays, more than likely, but you are definitely competitive
Duke - low reach
Washington State University- safety
BYU- low match/safety
Brown - low reach
Cornell - low reach (a little lower than Brown, though)
UIUC - safety
