CHANCE ME FOR IVYS. and of course I always chance back!

I already posted here, but times/my info has changed. Yuh.

CHANCE ME FOR: Brown, Columbia, Berkeley, UPenn (dad went there, grandpa taught there), UChicago, U of M. I'm going to major in either creative writing or political science.

Me: white, Jewish, female, junior. I go to a Top 500 public high school in an old money Midwest town.

GPA:
ACT: 31-33 (we took some youngin'-version sophomore year, and this is what they predicted for me to be)
SAT II: US History, 740. Bio M 630 (re-taking it). Taking World History (guessing mid/high-700s), Lit (mid-700s), and French (low-700s).
APs: smelly 4 in US, sophomore year. Taking Euro, Micro, Macro, Lang, and World this springggg
Rank: school doesn't do that

Schedule (I used the UC system for GPAs, not my own school's):
Freshman year (3.9 UW, 4.25 W):
Algebra I CP, Honors Earth Science, French II, Tutorial (study hall thing), Honors World History, Honors Freshman English, Gym

Sophomore year (3.96 UW, 4.21 W):
Photo I, Honors Biology, Honors Am. Lit., Adv. Journalism I, AP US, Geometry I CP, French III

Junior year (3.92 UW, 4.57 W):
AP Euro, AP Lang, AP Micro, Adv. Journalism II, Honors French IV, Chemistry, Alg. II CP

Senior year (what I will probably be taking):
AP Gov, AP Bio, AP French (or Latin I if there's no AP French available next year), AP Lit, Adv. Journalism III, Pre-Calc, Art History, AP Photo, probably some law classes

Extracurriculars/clubs (no real order):
-Journalism (7-12). Our newspaper is literally one of the best newspapers in the entire country. I'm one of the best- if not the best- writer on our paper. Right now, I'm assistant editor of the features section, but I should be managing editor of writing next year. My columns are published in the local paper and I shadowed the editor-in-chief of a regional paper over the summer. I went to journalism camp since 8th grade, and I've gotten awards for my writing.
-Debate Team (11-12). Captain and Founder. Just was founded, so obviously we're not like a nationally avowed team or anything. Right now it's just an after school "drop by and come debate" thing because we still don't have an adviser, but hopefully we'll be going to competitions next year.
-French Society (10-12), President and Founder. We organize a bunch of funlicious activities and charity stuff.
-WILLOW (9-12). Women bond strengthening club thing. I was selected as one of the mentors to younger girls at our HS.
-Strong Girls (10-12). We go to elementary schools during the spring and teach them to be proud in their lack of Y c'some and not to be beyotches.
-Debate Camp (10-12). Two weeks, day camp.
-National Honors Society (11-12), Cum Laude chapter. Can't join before 11th grade.
-IMPACT (9-12). Charity stuff.
-Varsity Gymnastics (9). (hellzz yeah...?)
-Assistant directed youth theatre (froshie year, age limit of involvement).

Volunteer:
-President of Young Women for Change (10-12). I'm the president for a chapter which includes two counties. Had a fundraiser and made $5,000 for a local women's charity.
-SOAR Tutoring (10-12). Once a week, I tutor low-income Detroit pre-schoolers in reading and writing.
-I need to do more soup kitchen-y stuff, don't I?

Honors:
-Best Affirmative Speech, Highest Overall Score at Debate Camp
-Third Place in Column Writing from MIPA
-Pacemaker, Columbia Gold Crown on our paper (highest honor a high school newspaper can get)
-I will have around 2903840 awards by the end of this year for writing stuff, so pretend that they're all here for your scrutinizing

Job:
-Bagger at Kroger (11-whenever I get fired/quit in an angry storming out-way, 20 hours a week).

Essay:
-Will blow everyone's minds

Recommendations:
-One of them will be my journalism teacher, who loves me. Other one will prolly be AP Euro, who also loves meh.
-HS counselor helped out my older sister who is a bit of a shall we say... heroin addict. Not sure if that will play in, but it should be a pretty good recommendation.

What are my chances? Do remember I'd be a little less immature with the admissions officers. Thanks guys!

Brown - Low to Mid-reach
Columbia - Reach
Berkeley - Match
UPenn - Match (legacy status)
UChicago - High Match/Low Reach
U of M - Match

:)

Can’t really chance you too accurately when you are “guessing” your standardized test scores.

Oh sorry, ^if it’s a guess, you cannot tell. I misread.

Brown - Maybe
Columbia - In
Berkeley - In
UPenn - I think you’re in
UChicago - perhaps
U of M - in

Chance Me?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1065083-my-complete-college-list-can-i-get-chanced.html</a></p>

Assuming that you have the test scores you predict,

Brown - mid-reach
Columbia - mid-reach
Berkeley - match
UPenn - high-match
UChicago - low-reach
U of M - match

I gave these predictions mainly based on the fact that you seem to believe in the “uniqueness” of your essays. For many of these schools they will be the deciding factor. Test scores shouldn’t be too influential because colleges look at them for proficiency, not intelligence. Extracurriculars are fine.

If you do get a 33
Brown - reach
Columbia - low reach
Berkeley - low reach
UPenn - reach
UChicago - reach
U of M - in

If I were you, I’d focus on school, tests, and ECs now. There’s gonna be plenty of time for you to worry about your chances once you have the stats to back it up.

Penn is not a reach if you’re legacy.
Keep your grades up, do well on tests, and (if you like it enough) do ED.
You’ll get in.

You seem pretty confident.

The deciding factor for you will be your essay, if it’s amazing, and ties together the rest of your application then you’re very competitive at Berkeley and Chicago. Most likely in at U of M. IDK how Penn deals with legacies, but it won’t hurt you. Brown and Columbia are more a less a toss up but I’ll say you’ll be in the running.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1059579-chances-ivies-will-my-extracurriculars-hurt-me-will-urm-ness-help.html</a></p>

You’ll probably get in if you ED UPenn.
Berkeley - match
Columbia, Brown - reach

chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1060060-colleges-im-interested-can-i-get-into.html</a></p>

It depends on your actual ACT /sat based on your but based on your projected acts
-pretty good act
-good ecs

-made props for helping impoverished youth

UPenn- likely because of legacy + teaching
u of m- yes safety
brown-reach
columbia-reach
chicago-reach/mid They care more about GPA (sat or act optional) if your don’t submit ACT greater chance of getting in
berkeley-reach

^ Chicago is not score optional…

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

To get the legacy boost at Penn, you need to apply ED. I’d strongly consider it.

Brown - slight reach
Columbia - Reach
Berkeley - Match
UPenn - High Match
Chicago - reach
Michigan - Match

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1072364-chance-me-washington-texas-wisconsin-cal.html</a>
Bet you’ll get into umich and Cal.

Brown - reach
Columbia - low reach
Berkeley - high match
UPenn - reach
UChicago - low reach
U of M - in

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1072885-chance-please-low-gpa-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Brown - Reach
Columbia - Reach
Berkeley - Match
UPenn - Match
UChicago - Match
U of M - Low Match
