Did you earn a perfect 1600 score on the SAT ?

If so, it is interesting that your GED math score was just at the 80th percentile.

Are you seeking substantial financial aid ?

I did! (I had more time to study for the SAT than the GED, and to be perfectly honest I was very surprised when I got my results. Practice tests had me pegged at around 760 or so.)

As for your other question, no, I’m not seeking financial aid

Do you mean Kenyon College?

yeah, sorry!

Don’t mind me, I’m just concerned about your application; don’t make the mistake there! Regardless, how much do you really know about Kenyon through direct experience or research? The name confusion raises some flags.

Also, beware of the “dream school” mindset. Have options you could be happy attending. Falling in love with a school before you are admitted can raise the emotional stakes in a process that is already too stressful.

Kenyon is tiny. My D has a friend who goes there and didn’t have a chance to visit before she enrolled (COVID). She was pretty surprised how tiny the town is. It’s basically the college. Look at it on Google Maps so you know.

That said it is great for Creative Writing (what the friend is studying too) and I would hazard a wild guess that you would have a good chance.

Hi, I noticed that you commented on my Chanceme, so I will return the favor. Since I don’t really know anything about Kenyon, I’ll stick to the statistics.

Your sat is well above the Kenyon’s ~1460 average (1600 is above the average of any school so I suppose you already knew that).

You aren’t applying for financial aid so that already puts you a step above any other international competition (I’m not sure if Kenyon is need-blind but it doesn’t affect you).

I looked at the Kenyon’s Common Data Set, and it seems they accept more females than males (Females: 41.2%, Males: 31.9%). That is a good thing for you.
For females specifically, there was a 17.4% yield rate (low yield rate). Don’t quote me on this, but that should mean ED2 gives you some type of boost in admissions.

I’ll refrain from citing the ED data itself since it includes ED1 and ED2, but just if you were wondering, out of 407 ED applications, 252 were accepted (62% acceptance rate).

I’m not sure how GED stats work, so I’ll also refrain from discussing GPA.
Demonstrated interest is listed as important, so you should definitely attend as many events as you can.

You still have time for writing arts submissions, I would say you if you could try to snag a writing award that would look great. Your extracurriculars are very spiked in favor of your major, which is a good thing.

To put it bluntly, I think if you weren’t international, you would have very good chances. However, since you’re not applying for financial aid and going for ED2, I think you still are very much in the running (international probably is only a slight disadvantage, if not maybe an advantage for diversity?)
If you want to access CDS data, search up Kenyon College common data set.
:]

Have you had a chance to ever visit Kenyon? Its a beautiful campus but its in the middle of no-where. About 1.5 hr drive from nearest big city through miles of cornfields. Would you fit in?

Why ED2? Why not ED1?

You are a very strong candidate for admission to Kenyon College ED II. Very strong due to SAT score & full pay status & demonstrated interest in writing.

Kenyon College is a small school (about 1,600 students), is a bit isolated, and has a gorgeous campus.

Curious as to the name of your ED I school & also curious as to "Why Kenyon ? ".
