What do you think my chances are for these schools? Also, do I still have much of a chance at Duke and UVA, where I have been deferred?

Oop sorry. I applied to the liberal arts school within each (LSA, CAS, etc.) and at Rice I applied for humanities with my intended major as history.

Hi, I think I may be able to answer Michigan well for you since I’m from Ann Arbor. If you were in-state, I would give you 10/10. But since you’re out state, it’s a bit tricky. You’re going up against an extremely competitive out state group mixed with some very competitive international students. That said, I think you still have a very good chance of being accepted, but don’t absolutely count on it. :)!

It obviously has an effect, just not the effect that can make or break a decision. UW Gpa / Standardized Test Scores / Class Rigor first. always. I wouldn’t fret, you’ll find a good school :-). Sucks that you live in state though with no high-tier public schools though!

As a current out of state student at UMich, I hope I can help you feel confident that you have a pretty decent shot. Something I like about Michigan is that since they don’t conduct interviews, a lot of what they base admissions on is your essays. As long as they convey a genuine desire to attend Michigan and speak to something about yourself as an individual, you have great chances of acceptance. I’m in the Honors Program, and most of the out of staters I know have stats similar to yours. Most of us got in EA…but I think you are fine.
