Well, I am impressed. Especially about the Job/Work experience and the Additional Accomplishments/Awards on top of the rigorous academics.

Good luck!

@ItsJustSchool‌ Thank you!
Would you mind chancing me for these Universities ?

@IBstudent10001, I am afraid I do not know how to accurately “chance” a person. I look at posts like this in order to help brainstorm what could benefit from attention in the time leading up to the application, in my opinion, to strengthen the candidacy. This is simply a snapshot- how would I properly evaluate your full application from a simple snapshot? Plus, I do not do this for a living and do not know the current trends in how to evaluate a package, even if I had a full package, according to any institutional guidelines.

You seem to be on track with all your activities. I found myself wondering about the experience of traveling to Northern India for your service trip (how that developed you as a person), and wondering if you are competitive enough in football to try to be recruited. Certainly, the Division III schools like Caltech and MIT may be interested in you as an addition to their soccer team. The “Winner”, “Finalist”, and “Gold Award” impressed me.

You seem to be doing the right things, to me! Good luck!

Why did you not take the SAT I? If you did take it, what were your scores?

The work/internship experience looks good. Did you publish the physics research paper in a scientific journal?

Because s/he did pretty well on the ACT? No reason to take both if you don’t want to.

The only thing I am somewhat concerned about is the ACT score. Ivies usually take 35-36 and I think they’re stingy with that. Otherwise I think you look pretty great!

Chance me for UW Madison please!

@sgopal2‌ No, I have not taken the SAT 1, cause I didnt need to?
I haven’t published my paper yet, but I plan too in the coming months.

Much more of a ceiling effect with ACT (with ivies) than with SAT. You might be able to stand out from international pool a bit more with sky-high SAT I scores. Usually SAT II scores are paired with SAT I. I found it strange that you only took SAT 2 without SAT 1

A 33 on the ACT won’t drastically hurt your chances for top schools. I think you’re a very strong candidate for every school you have listed, but I can’t accurately chance you for each one. Good luck

These are reach schools for everyone. I don’t think you’ll get into every one, but certainly have a chance at a lot of these. Low tier ivies like Cornell won’t be a problem but HYP might be a challenge. MIT/CalTech are definitely feasible. Good luck!

OP:

  1. The data you provided is quite competitive, even for these most-selective institutions.
  2. However, you do not provide GPA or class rank, which are fundamental US admissions criteria.
  3. Your ACT composite score is satisfactory, but a retest result of 34, or especially 35, would be a major “plus” for your candidacy.

@TopTier‌ I am an International and we dont have the GPA system here neither the ranking system. So, all of our internal grades are in the IB grading scale (i.e on the 7 scale).
I will try to raise my ACT to a 34 atleast when I take it again.
