EC’s:
- Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society): I served as the Sergeant at Arms my sophomore year and vp my junior. I was a heavy organizer in various events that our club organized such as a state competition and a middle-school oriented competition, where I led the test-writing teams. I also coached students in competition math throughout the year.
- Science National Honor Society: I also served as the Sergeant my sophomore year and vp my junior year. I helped train our teams for Science Olympiad (we placed 3rd at districts; TBD at states) and created various labs from scratch for students to conduct at meetings.
- Model UN: I served as the treasurer my sophomore and junior years, essentially helping run meetings and dealing with minor financial stuff. I competed in local competitions both years.
- Academic Team: I served as vice-captain my junior year and will be captain senior year. Our team won first at districts.
- Piano: I've been playing for 10+ years. I've competed in 10+ local competitions and recitals (minor monetary awards) and have my theory certification for level 11.
- National Honor Society: always a classic.
- Varsity Track & Field (9th-11th)
- JV Cross Country (10th-11th)
- Tutor at Mathnasium: I've been working here since the beginning of junior year, about 6+ hours per week.
- Volunteered in hospital giftshop (packaging flowers/gifts for patients, managing register, cleaning, etc...) 3 hours/wk since beginning of sophomore year
- Volunteered at local animal rescue shelter for 6 months sophomore year
- Volunteered at local homeless shelter (1/month) for 8 years
Summer:
My freshman and sophomore summers were spent visiting family over in Asia. For the upcoming summer, I applied to various summer programs (MITES, Carnegie Mellon, PROMYS, etc…), as well as received acceptance for a county internship program, where I will be interning for an engineer/computer scientist (TBD). I’m also planning on attending FBLA Nationals again.
Rec Letters will be stellar from my AP Calculus teacher and strong from my guidance counselor. My essays should be fairly strong (hopefully…?).
Let me know what you think! MIT would be the dream school, but it’s ~quite~ difficult nowadays. Suggestions are greatly appreciated, as well anything that seems like it has room for improvement. Thanks!
