Chance me for MIT (Junior)

Hi, I'm a junior in high school, and as the username suggests, I'm interested in mathematics. Chance me and I'll chance you back!

MIT (EA)
Caltech (EA)
Harvard
Yale
Stanford*
Brown*
UChicago*
Duke*
UC Berkeley
UCLA

= will not apply if I get in somewhere EA.
UC app is due before EA/ED decisions come out.

Asian Male from CA (-sadface-)

Go to a competitive public (charter) school, ranked rather high on US News/World Report.

Weighted GPA: N/A
Unweighted GPA: 3.99

Class Rank: Don't know, would safely guess top 10%.

Freshman/Sophomore grades: All A's except an A- in AP Spanish first semester.

AP's: Calculus BC, Stats, Comp Sci A, Spanish Lang... all 5's except a 4 on Spanish.

Taken Linear Algebra and Multivariable Calculus already at local institutions.

Junior schedule: AP English Lang, AP Chemistry, AP World History, AP Biology, Orchestra, Independent Study in Math (1st semester, real analysis/combinatorics/number theory), Abstract Algebra (2nd semester, off campus)... got all A's first semester.

Senior schedule: AP English Lit, APUSH, AP Physics B (school is dumb and doesn't offer C), stuff off campus for math/comp sci (EPGY, local institutions... thinking about Differential Equations, Real/Complex Analysis, Topology, Algorithms)

SAT: Took 2 weeks ago...will probably retake if below 2200.

PSAT: CR 74/Math 80/Writing 76, 230 composite... should be high enough for NMS.

Subject Tests:
800 Math II
690 Spanish (definitely not sending)

Summer Activities: 2010 - Linear Algebra course, 2011 - Hampshire College Summer Studies in Mathematics

Other:
Math Club - Co-President (50+ hours) (unique, duh)
Writing/Poetry Club (30+ hours)
Tutoring in Math (50+ hours)
Journalism
Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music - Student Staff (2009, 2010)
Ushering at local Shakespeare festival - 2009, 2010
USAMO Qualifier last year (132 AMC12 + 9 AIME)
Violin (most unique extracurricular ever): private lessons, school orchestra (concertmaster), county youth symphony (concertmaster last year), chamber music groups (won local awards), honors county high school jazz band, pit orchestra for school musicals
Working on a biomathematics project with someone, may submit to Siemens come fall/winter.
Applied to a few summer math/research programs for this summer.

My family has been very dysfunctional/fought a lot/on the verge of breaking up within the last 3 years, making it very hard to work on stuff/be concentrated at times. That being said, we make 100K+ each year.

you have a great chance on Berkeley, MIT and Caltech
Make sure you get a high SAT or ACT score
and take more subject test in science if you really want to be considered for the universities i just mentioned

As log as you get high SAT’s, you should definitely get accepted at at least one of those schools.

Don’t forget to write great essays :-)

I’ll assume you’re SAT’s will be 1500+/1600

MIT (EA) — good chance, but not a lock
Caltech (EA) — very strong chance, close to a lock (how many USAMO qualifiers are there these days-it would depend on that)
Harvard — toss-up
Yale — I would predict you would get in as they don’t get as many strong math/science people
Stanford* — maybe, admissions is unpredictable there
Brown* — very unpredictable admissions, highly essay-dependent
UChicago* — lock
Duke* — lock
UC Berkeley — lock unless “holistic admissions” is completely messed up
UCLA — see Berkeley answer

OK, now chance me:
mid-1500’s on SAT out of 1600
770-800 on several SATIIs
did well in state math, science competitions (nothing like USAMO), some other awards in other fields too…
blah blah blah some other stuff i’m well-rounded OK
People tell me I’m at the level ABOVE AND BEYOND A GRAD STUDENT in my chosen field.

CHANCE ME CHANCE ME CHANCE ME for mit.

Bump.

Chance me.
