Chance me for MIT

<p>Unweighted GPA: either 3.8 or 4.0 (not 100% sure on exact)
Weighted GPA: 4.6 (highest GPA in class is 4.74)</p>

<p>My HS doesn't rank but I'm in the top 5% </p>

<p>SAT I:
CR: 680
M: 750
W: 800</p>

<p>I'm taking the SAT for a second and final time this weekend to see if I can't raise my CR and M scores.</p>

<p>SAT II:
Math I: 760
Chem: 790
U.S. History: 780</p>

<p>AP Scores to Date:
World History: 5
U.S. History: 5
Chem: 5
English Lang.: 4</p>

<p>Senior Schedule:
Symphony Orch, Principles of Engineering, AP Calc BC, AP Physics C, AP English lit, AP Macroeconomics, AP Gov't and Politics</p>

<p>Recommendations:
They're not absolutely spectacular but I'd say they're strong enough. Rec from guidance counselor is: 'well-rounded student, taking most rigorous course, passionate" etc.</p>

<p>Essays:
PM me if you'd like to read through them. Well-written and a little offbeat but still with a serious tone when necessary</p>

<p>ECs:
Honors/Awards:
-All County Honors Orchestra Div 4&5 (10th/11th gr)
-Long island String Festival Honors Orch (10th/11th gr)
-Rensselaer Medalist Scholarship
-AP Scholar with Honor
-National Honor Society
-National German Honor Society
-Tri-M Music Honor Society
-Principal's Honor Roll (9th-12th gr)</p>

<p>Activities:
(the first 5 are the ones I listed on my app.)
-Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York (unique, only 1 of 4 or so youth orchestras in the entire state, performs at carnegie hall and lincoln center)
-Tri-M Honor Society (organized all-state auditions and all county festival when it was hosted at my school, sponsers school events like "Cabaret Night" and "MHS Unplugged")
-NYSSMA Festival participant (4th - 12th gr; I've auditioned since 4th grade and I've also helped organize the festival)
-Massapequa Science Discovery fair (judge for 3 years)
-HS Chamber Orch (9th - 12th gr)
-Violin for 9 years
-Gemini Youth Orchestra
-SADD "Safe Halloween" </p>

<p>Summer:
Didn't have much to put here but-
-C.W. Post/LIU summer chamber music festival
-Traveled for first time alone
-Various family vacations</p>

<p>Work Experience:
A little nervous for this; I've done housesitting and dogsitting for neighbors before but that's it</p>

<p>Miscellaenous Stuff:
-Interviewed with an alumni
-I sent in an RCT (rollercoastertycoon) portfolio. It was definitely a risk but I showed how it's an outlet for creative expression and not just a video game. It was offbeat and I definitely wouldn't submit it to a school like Princeton or Harvard but I thought MIT would appreciate the creativity</p>

<p>Sorry to double post but I’d appreciate it if you could chance me for Carnegie Mellon and RPI too</p>

<p>I am assuming you didn’t apply EA? What ethnicity are you?</p>

<p>SAT scores look sketchy. MIT only uses Math and CR and your score would therefore transfer into a 1430/1600. (I hope you get higher score for Nov. as MIT underscores, aim for a 1500+/1600). SAT II’s look decent. </p>

<p>Your coursework looks rigorous but your EC focus is very…non-scienc-y, though I do respect all the musical and social leadership roles u have.</p>

<p>I’d say your chances are ok? I am nto an adcom, but this is jsut what I think.</p>

<p>good luck!</p>

<p>You took Math I applying to MIT?</p>

<p>decent chance if you can get cr up</p>

<p>I actually did apply EA</p>
