Chance me for Northeastern University, please!

Hello! I have wanted to go to Northeastern University since I was a freshman, it has been my dream school and I even plan to apply early decision! I want to apply to the D’Amore-McKim School of Business and major in international business/Spanish. How competitive is this major?
I got my SAT scores today, and it really bummed me out. I got a 1750 (M: 600 CR: 590 WR: 560) I plan to take it again in May and study my butt off to get it up to 2000+. Do you think Northeastern is going to really hate to see this 1750 though, even if I get it up to 2000+?
I also plan to take the ACT April 18th, and think I will do much better there and might not even send SAT scores.
Here are my stats though
GPA 93% UW (We do not do GPA 4.0 at my school, or weighted grades. We also only have honors classes in English.)
Could someone please tell me my realistic chances? Also, does anyone know how many people apply early decision versus how many get in? I know it is new this year, but does anyone know the statistics of this year?
Anyways here is my schedules.

Bump, will chance back!

I’d say the school’s a match. Just get your standardized test scores up, you have plenty of time to do that though. Definitely take the ACT again though, I personally did a lot better on it with half the effort.

I agree with Prubaby123; a higher SAT or ACT score would help. Everything else seems on track for Northeastern. Your EC’s are really good and schedule seems good, as well. Good luck!

Reaching 2000 is easier said than done. Make sure you keep up with your practice. Luckily, NU has no supplements. So if you do very well on your exams and essay, you should have a decent chance. If possible, try to break 2000 with your SAT so that you can get merit aid. FA aid there isn’t too great. They gave me nothing, not even a loan while other schools gave me some decent grants in need based aid.

you should have a decent chance as long as you get your SAT upward of 2000. I don’t know too much about NE but I know it is somewhat selective but not too bad. Just get test scores up and you should have a good chance

Bump!

For me personally, the ACT was much easier than the SAT and I ended up getting into Northwestern with my scores (I had a 35 ACT and a 2250 SAT). I think you also should look into the SAT Subject Tests in the areas that you’ve taken AP tests, so for you I would take Math I or II, and US History.

You seem to BE in a lot of clubs, but you don’t really have club leadership. That’s really important, esp since you aren’t playing sports. I was the president of the two largest clubs in my high school, and my other friend that got into northwestern was the VP of a regional Jewish Youth Council board. I think it’s really important to demonstrate that you have a deep passion and that you take it further by making it better for others.

Northeastern’s most important criteria right now seems to be the SAT. If you want to get in with a 93 average, try for 2100 to have reasonable chances, and if you want almost ensured chances, try for 2200+

@Cosmological do you think that they like the SAT more than the ACT? Because I seem to be doing better with the ACT

If they accept either, it’s because there is no preference.

The only advice I have for you is to increase your standardized test score. Unless you’re hoping to superscore, you only have to send in the one you did the best on

This is only anecdotal evidence, but I got in EA with my then 2190 and 88.7 GPA, but my friend got deferred with a 92.5 and a 2000. I think the difference between an 88.7 and a 92.5 is much more meaningful than the difference between a 2000 and a 2190. He then got in but it was only through NU.in which he wasn’t interested in. The most useful and quickest thing you can do for Northeastern to try to get in is retake the SAT, but only retake it after a fair amount of practice.
