Chance me for Northwestern!

GPA UW 3.6 (most likely will graduate with 3.7); W 4.2
ACT- 32
SAT II- Spanish 760; Math II 750
Current Rank: My school ranks only Valedictorian and Salutatorian, but I’m probably the top 20-25%
I attend the #1 school in the state, and according to US News, it is in the Top 40 Best High School in the U.S.

AP classes sophomore year:
AP World History; I got a 2. Nobody in my grade got a 5. Almost everyone got a 2, and a handful received a 3 or a 4. Our teacher was not good at all.

AP classes junior year:
AP Language and Composition (3)
AP Spanish Language and Culture (3)
AP US History (3)
AP Cambridge (4)
not proud of my scores

For people who don’t know what AP Cambridge is:
Our school is a part of the pilot program supported by Cambridge University. We're one of 20-30ish schools in the WHOLE world who has this program. It is a 2-year course (junior and senior year)

AP classes senior year:
AP English Literature
AP Gov
AP Econ
AP Cambridge
AP Calc AB

Northwestern is my DREAM school. I love everything about it. I’m looking for some reassurance; hopefully, I have some chance.

Bump bump bump

It is a reach for you, but you can give it a try. Your ACT is around or slightly below admission average while your GPA is below admission average. Their admission rate this year is 12.9%.

It is definitely a reach. It’s not at all that you’re an unqualified or weak applicant because you’re not. Sure your ACT is a little low but raising it one (or maybe even two) points will significantly improve. Your GPA is also low for NW but you seem to have a very rigorous, ap heavy course load and a very prestigious HS which could justify the slightly low GPA. The main issue is that you have a lot of EC’s, most of which are weak and don’t show much commitment or skill. I think it’s important to narrow down which show off your best qualities and strengthen those. You’re at an advantage being in TN though because colleges love all states represented! good luck and please chance back!

@billcsho‌ yes, im working on the act score…and my junior year destroyed my gpa…but im slowly piecing it together…hopefully

@conservativearts‌ yes, i will leave out some ECs, because some of them were a joke…haha…but I was mostly involved with Student government, model un/ youth legislature, and church…so I’ll emphasize on that…thank you!
