<p>Seeing all these people doing chance threads, I feel like I should probably do one too</p>

<p>Gender:
Male</p>

<p>Year:
11th (Junior)</p>

<p>Ethnicity:
Iranian Jew (Sometimes called persian)</p>

<p>Special anything?
Sister is going to stony brook dental (does this help my chances if I wanted to end up going to dental at stony brook? or dental at any other school?)</p>

<p>GPA:
3.62/4.0 UW
3.53 Freshman year
3.55 Sophmore Year
3.83 Junior Year: I got one A+ and the rest were A's. (4.0=A+)</p>

<p>Rank:
We don't have school rankings.</p>

<p>SAT:
1800 first try, went in not that prepared, taking again next week, projecting around 2000 or so.</p>

<p>SATII's:
Projecting 700-750 Math II
Projecting 650-750 US Gov</p>

<p>11th:
I didn't take any AP's 11th, as I had absolutely no idea what they were, I was always in honors classes though, Physics, Pre-calc.</p>

<p>12th:
Will be taking AP Physics, AP Calc, AP Statistics</p>

<p>EC's:
Track & Field: 9th
Basketball: 9th, 10th
Football: 10th</p>

<p>Was working as a sales clerk and file manager basically throughout high school, when I wasn't doing sports, and during almost every summer. (10th grade summer I volunteered as a camp counselor)</p>

<p>Member of friendship circle: 4 hrs/week, working with autistic kids: 11th grade
Member of Enviormental Club: 1 hr/week, activities benefiting the environment: 11th grade
Member of End to Cyber Bullying club: 1hr/week, activities preventing students from bullies: 11th grade</p>

<p>SCHOOLS:
-NYU
-Stony Brook (and if I wanted to end up going to dental school there does it help my chances because my sister went there)</p>

<p>ANY OTHER SCHOOLS I SHOULD CONSIDER IF I WANTED TO GO FOR MEDICAL/DENTAL?</p>

<p>You need higher SAT and your course load seems kind of weak.</p>

<p>Do you have more specifics on your sports? JV? Varsity? Captain? The work thing is more unique, which is good, but your EC’s are kind of weak, and your scores are kind of low. How many AP’s do your offer? (does your school offer? Eh, grammar :/) </p>

<p>There looks to be an upwards trend in your GPA (Which is good) but you def. want a higher SAT score (2000+? 2100+?).</p>

<p>Also, your sister doesn’t count as legacy- I have no idea whether or not it will help, sorry :(</p>

<p>I think you have a fair shot, but no promises. You’d probably need to raise your SAT to a 2100+. I don’t know whether or not your gpa is low or not based on grades so I’ll let you be the judge of that. It does hurt a little bit that you did not take any AP classes. For dentistry (thats what I want to do) a lot of colleges want to see good grades in bio and chemistry.
As for other schools, what area of the country do you want to go to? Are you from new york (i’m just guessing since you want to go to NYU or Stony Brook)? SUNY Buffalo has a very good undergrad/dental school program. NYU has a 7 year dental program in addition to that. RIT has a really good med and University of Rochester has good dental. There are tons of programs out there, but it depends on how much you’re willing to pay and live</p>

<p>I’d say NYU is a reach. It’s not impossible but your GPA and SAT are kind of low for it. Stony Brook on the other hand you have a very good shot at. I’m not sure if having a sister at there dental school will help get you admitted but I think Stony Brook does give admission preference to there students. Another school you should take a look at that seems to be a good match would be Binghamton University.</p>

<p>I will be getting around a 2000-2050 on my next SAT, also, I live in NY and would like something close, maybe bordering states is fine too, any suggestions? feedback?</p>
