Letters of Recommendation

(Briefly describe relationships with your recommenders and estimated rating.)

Sociology/AP Gov teacher: 10/10

AP Lang Teacher: 7/10

I can’t chance you, but Tisch Film and Television major will be a reach. Film majors are reachy at many schools, so cast a wide net.

You can calculate your unweighted GPA yourself…convert percentage grades in core courses only (E, Math, Science, FL, SS) to letter grades (As 90%+, Bs 80%+ and so on), then divide by the number of classes. What is your uwGPA?

Tisch is test optional, so I encourage you to consider if there is benefit to you studying for the SAT again…Increasing your score by 170+ is not easy and a 1400 would be equivalent to your ACT 31, so you gain nothing. It’s likely you have better ways to spend your time than studying for the SAT.

I am unsure whether you would be able to also major in sociology from Tisch, so look into that. Admissions

The closest major to screenwriting, would probably be Dramatic Writing: Rita & Burton Goldberg Department of Dramatic Writing

Lastly, what is your budget? Run NYU’s net price calculator (and the NPCs of all the schools on your list) to get a cost estimate. Note the NPC might not be accurate if your parents are divorced, own a business, or own real estate beyond a primary home. Net Price Calculator

Submit the ACT score of 31.

Solid chance at NYU Tisch.

For screenwriting, you need to expand your list of schools. (USC has the best program in the nation.)
