Chance me for NYU Stern :)

Note: Also could you chance me for Columbia as well? :)

Country: Canada
Ethnicity: Chinese
Citizenship: Canadian
Sex: Male

Class of 2013
GPA: 4.0/4.0 (midyear report), 89.33/100 (term 1)
SAT (superscored): 2010
Breakdown: 630 CR, 760 Math, 620 Writing
SAT II: Math 1 and Math 2, both 740.
Class Rank: N/A

Previous AP exams: Psychology (5)
I plan to take the Statistics 12 AP, Calculus 12 AP (AB), and English 12 AP exams in my final year.

Senior Course Load:
English 12 AP, Statistics 12 AP, Calculus 12 AP (AB), Human Geography 12 AP, Spanish 12, Planning 12 (half year course), Infotech 11 (Half-year course), two spares

ExtraCurriculars/Volunteer/Work Experience:
-Canadian Ten-Dance Champion for competitive ballroom dancing
-Runner's up for Latin and Standard Canadian categories
-BC Youth AND Adult Champion
-World Representative for the Canadian DanceSport Federation
-14th in the World for Ten-Dance (16-18 age category)
-20th for Latin and 25th for Standard
-Volunteer at my dance studio, I help organize small events or dance parties or group lessons
-For work experience, I am also a ballroom dance teacher.

My essays and supplementary essays are decent in my opinion. To be honest, I don't think they were absolutely amazing, but I feel like I did a pretty good job overall.

As for my teacher references I don't know, because I waived my rights to look at them. But I'm pretty confident that they are well-done. If I had to guess the main point that stands out in them is the fact that I miss a lot of school due to travelling for my dance competition, but I always manage to catch up on the missed homework and assignments in a timely and well-executed manner.

I don't know what else to add, any ideas? :)
Thanks a bunch!

NYU Stern: High match
Columbia: Reach

I can swear that even U Toronto Rotman can be a safety at home…

I got rejected from Rotman today. :frowning:
Edit: That’s partially why I made an account today, I’m really freaking out.

Is Queen’s, UBC Sauder or UWO Ivey more realistic than Rotman in your situation?

Additionally, can you afford NYU Stern? Because NYU Stern has poor FA…

I missed the Ivey deadline (I got into Management however), but I can apply in 2nd-year anyways since the Ivey Program doesn’t start until 3rd year. I didn’t apply to UBC Sauder because I really want to get out of Vancouver. I can most likely get into Queen’s for Commerce, just waiting on results now.

And yes, I can afford NYU.
I know it’s really expensive but my parents have told me that they want me to go to the best school I can get into regardless of price, and they’ll find a way to make ends meet!

So UWO is your safety now…

I’m just not sure how good of a school it is.
I also got into McGill for Arts and waiting on a result for Commerce, I don’t really know what to make sense of it. Perhaps UWO would be better than McGill simply for the fact that I got into Management?

McGill Desautels: Reach (unless you averaged 93%+ in your best 5 classes; it’s harder to get in than even Rotman)

Any other opinions? :O

Hi! I am also a chinese male looking to go to NYU Stern, good luck to you! I am not one to know how likely it is for you to get into the school, but we are of similar credentials; my SAT is 280 points higher than yours and my GPA is .2 lower, so I believe that if one of us gets in, the other will too. I hope this is what happens hahah

Thanks! Good luck to you too! Only two weeks left until the results.
Any other opinions? :D

shameless bump

I’m pretty sure NYU weighs heavier on your extracurricular activities. Way more than UofT. The admission system is completely different. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Alright, I’ll try to do some research.
Someone else wanna chance me please? I’d really appreciate it. :)
