3.1 unweighted GPA (take all honors and or AP)
6 weighted GPA (out of 7... that's how my school does it)
2200 SAT's
SAT II's: 750 US History 750 Biology M 780 Spanish
First generation Latino/Hispanic

EC's: Not that many.... part of a few unimportant clubs and play soccer for highschool, and do a lot of sports outside of school
I have charity work in South American countries

Chance me for (will chance back):
U of Illinois Urbana
U of Michigan Ann Arbor
Rutgers New Brunswick
Indiana University Bloomington
NYU
Boston University
Northeastern University
UC Berkeley
Stanford

Chances are good a U of M, U of I and great at Northeastern.

However the low unwegihted G.P.A. might hurt your chances at UC Berkley and Stanford.

EC look o.k. and good SAT try taking the ACT you might get a better score

Bump ////////////

Chance is not good at UMich at all. There were less than a few percent of admitted students with GPA of 3.1 or below. UMich weigh GPA very heavily. Considering your course load, GPA at around 3.4 is already pushing the limit. Note the average GPA for admission is around 3.7 at UMich. Where is your home state? Stanford would also be a high reach for you. Your hispanic background may help a little bit and your SAT score is above average for most of these schools, but these factors may be out weighed by the low GPA and weak EC for at least some of these schools.
Nevertheless, many schools do not count the GPA from freshman year and many do like to see an upward trend. You may want to have a closer look at your GPA and it may turn out to be better than it appeared.

SAT is solid but that gpa might hold you back especially for Stanford. I think you’ll be ok for BU and Northeastern though

I do know someone who had a poor gpa but a 2000 sat and got into BU…chance me back please!!!

bump:( ???

Your SATs and URM status will help, but for Berkeley and Stanford in particular, it’s going to be almost impossible to overcome that GPA. If you’re applying for engineering at UMich, you’re going to have a tough time getting in, although you should apply EA and demonstrate interest, as both will increase your chances (I applied RD and with no demonstrated interest–I had a 3.78/2350 and was waitlisted). I think you have a good shot at Urbana, BU, and Northeastern. You’ve got a pretty good shot at NYU, as well. I won’t comment on Rutgers or Indiana, as I don’t know much about either.

Your ACT/SAT are great and more than good enough for most but your GPA is REALLY low for the top of these colleges, so you’re a high reach for Boston, Northeastern, Rutgers New Brunswick, Indiana University Bloomington, and U of Illinois Urbana. If you’re feeling very VERY lucky, apply to others; otherwise, I don’t recommend you to apply.

bump bump
anybody else?

You have the hooks of being first-gen and hispanic, also you have awesome SAT scores. The EC’s don’t really show any development of passion though, but that could be because you didn’t provide enough information. Did you win any trophies/awards in the sports you play in? Any leadership experience?

Your GPA is a major weakness too. If you have an upward trend from freshman year, it’ll be looked favorably on, but it’s still not impressive as a 3.1 uw.

Oh and if applying to a school that requires SATII’s, don’t submit the Spanish one. College admissions officers aren’t impressed with SAT language scores when they’re in the student’s native language.

U of Illinois Urbana: Reach
U of Michigan Ann Arbor: Low reach
NYU: Reach
Boston University: Low Reach
Northeastern University: Reach
UC Berkeley: High reach
Stanford: High reach

I don’t know about Rutgers or Indiana either. :/

My DD got accepted to NYU Tisch and UC Berkeley (2013) out of your list. Her stats:
GPA 4.2 w 3.8 uw
