So yes this is basically it. I'm expecting a very good counselor rec detaling what i have had to go through during the past few years. I will also send a personal statement detailing my poor freshman year (I had some depression due to bullying) and how my poor grades don't represent who I am.

Also should I apply early or regular? I know I can get good grades 1st semester of senior year but i've heard due to the introduction of the common app OSU is going to become hard to get into.

bumppppppp

Actually it does but not much, especially if you are international and on the fence in terms of admission.

Frankly, your SAT score is rather low!! The current 50%-tile SAT 1200-1350 (ACT 27-31) for Ohio State freshman class. Plus, this will be the 1st year of Common App for tOSU, overall application is expected to increase by around 25%, which translates into much challenging admission. So, my suggestion for you right now would be to take ACT as you alluded above, and aim for 28+ (as your current GPA is upward but overall average) to ensure your acceptance for 2012-2013.

Don’t forget to check out “International Undergraduate Scholarship” if you are qualified in the future:

[International scholarship](http://undergrad.osu.edu/admissions/international/scholarship.html)

Best of Luck & Go Bucks!! :)

I’m not an international student… but thanks for your input.

Bump…

^^ In that case, you might be eligible to receive even more merit scholarships and financial aids if you get your ACT score over 28 as mentioned above.

Best of Luck & Go Bucks!!

You have good ECs. If you get a 28+ on your ACT you will probably get in.

Ok but do you suggest i apply early or regular???

Early imho. At least that’s what tOSU admission office told me when I inquired about my cousin’s chance for acceptance last year. Earlier = high / better chance… I was told.

bumpppppppppppppppp

EC’s are AMAZING, GPA leaves more to be desired but i feel like if you do well on the ACT youre a shoe in, but i still feel like its a match

I’d go EA, just incase

Why not ea it? Then its almost a guarantee.

bumpitybump

bumppppppppppp

Do EA and i think youll get in

I’d say EA, especially if it’s non-binding. I think if your essay explains your freshman grades and is compelling, then your upward grade trend will seem even more impressive! Also, a good idea would be to do some EC’s related to stopping teen bullying (there’s a bunch of organizations you could raise money for, etc.) so that you could add that in your essay. I think you have a great chance if you raise your ACTs to 30+. Good luck! Thanks for chancing me, by the way! :)

If you get your act over 30 you should be in the right range for test scores. Your GPA could use a bit of work but because you have challenging classes you should be accepted. Just write a killer essay to make sure you get in! My brother didnt have the best GPA but had very difficult classes and got accepted. chance me???

You have a better chance getting in OSU than at the U. You should definitely apply EA because you can qualify for scholarships and grants with EA. If you get a good ACT then I think you have a great shot at getting in.

New Common App member overshadows the others

As rising high school seniors set out to start completing their college applications later this summer, those hoping to get away with only using the Common Application will have one major new college to consider.

The Ohio State University, a major research university that has up until this coming admissions season only maintained its own institutional application, will start accepting the Common App for applicants to its main, Columbus campus.

The 2012-2013 Common Application will be available online August 1, 2012, and students applying to Ohio State will have to complete both the Common Application and the Ohio State supplemental form. Yet, this is not the only change to Ohio State’s admissions procedures.

The university’s December 1 priority deadline has been eliminated; however, the university still encourages students to apply early in the fall and by the final application deadline of February 1, 2013.

Meanwhile, information collected on the Common Application and Ohio State supplement will inform not only the admissions process, but also Honors & Scholars and Morrill Scholars processes, eliminating the need for separate applications.

Additionally, Ohio State will require students to submit one teacher recommendation with each application.

Ohio residents who want to apply directly to a Regional campus and domestic and international transfer students will continue to apply via the application Ohio State has used for many years.
