I think your profile is competitive for both Penn and Duke. Your ECs don’t necessarily need to translate directly to engineering, so I wouldn’t worry about that—similarly, one’s hobby and career can be completely different. As long as you connect why an engineering degree will help you achieve your goals, then that’s enough for admissions.

Looks good to me, definitely very competitive for both schools. Which one do you plan on applying ED though, remember you can only apply ED to one school

Really stuck between the two schools, I really love both. I know I shouldn’t base my decision on statistics, but at this point I want to apply ED to the program I have a better chance at

@mrub18 I don’t think your chances would be materially different at either. I know Penn accepts a slightly bigger portion of its class ED but not by much. I would suggest thinking about which location you prefer more (Durham is small town, while Philadelphia is a major city), and also what other fields/opporutnities you are interested in exploring besides bioengineering and what each schools strengths are in these areas.

I also have interests in business, so utilizing Wharton’s resources would definitely be advantageous. Would I be at all a candidate for M&T? Also, do engineering students have opportunities to take business classes?

Bump

@mrub18 Any undergraduate student can take classes at Wharton. Your numeric stats are competitive for M&T, but you would really need to on why the M&T program is the right fit for you in the extra essay that they require.
