thanks so much for your time and everything. i really appreciate all comments

ps. i live in illinois and i am white. Will that hurt my chances?

Hi golfgirl,

It seems like you have been doing pretty well in high school so far, keep up the good work!

As for your chances ... it is hard to tell based on the information you have given, because only you know how difficult of a schedule you have had and you have not given a class rank or specific grades. However, you do have interesting extracurriculars (but nothing super noticeable IMO).

Although it is up for debate, the order of importance for the aspects of the application process is thought to go something like this:

-An admissions "hook" (recruited athlete, outstanding minority applicant, parents donate $100000 annually)
-Grades in school
-Strength of Schedule
-SAT I scores/ACT
-Teacher/Counselor Recommendations (but if they are either very good or very bad then they might be more important)
-Extracurricular Activities
-SATII scores/ AP tests (but rumor has it top schools may rely more on these in the future)
-Interview you will eventually receive when you apply

Have you thought about contacting the golf coach as a possible recruit?

Good luck with your college search!

P.S. Being a white girl from Illinois will neither help nor hurt you - but keep in mind you will most likely be compared with the students who go to school in the same state and region.

Looks great so far! Keep it up, don't do anything stupid, don't have an academic meltdown (like I sorta did :)) and explore one single passion that you have found. I think that you have a unique academic background (small all-girls school), unique sport (I don't know too many female golfers, at least where I am from), and that so far you have used your time in your summer/ extracurriculars excellently. The ACT test score is also a plus.
