Please Chance me!! I really need help!

Ever since middle school, it has been my dream to go to Princeton. I am currently a Junior in a very prestigious private high school in Texas that generally sends a lot of kids to the Ivies (this year, 4 got into Princeton, 3 into Harvard, 5 into Dartmouth, 7 into Yale, etc.). Unfortunately, I am a legacy at Harvard, not Princeton. I will do whatever it takes to get into Princeton, so suggestions are welcome. Here are my stats.

Do I have any chance? Thank you so much for helping!

You have a pretty impressive resume here. I think you have a good shot, but admission can be pretty random too. Try to show, on your application, that you are not just someone who has amazing stats, but someone who has something else to offer to the school besides your grades. They already have a huge pool of wonderful students, they need students to distinguish themselves from the group.

Should I beef up my extracurriculars, or are they ok??

Anyone want to chance me??

I think it’s funny how you think other high school students and even Princeton students actually know what goes on in the admissions office. In all honesty, I can’t give you a straight answer. You might have a better chance than most, with your (8!) SAT II’s and 2400 and numerous EC’s with leadership positions, but, at the same time, I’ve seen crazy, crazy things happen.

A chance thread really won’t change anything but your confidence level with a pseudo-acceptance/rejection.

Hahaha I like how you already put “National Merit Scholar Finalist” on your resume without any official recognition. I understand, though. =)

bump…bump…

Of course you have a chance, its just 90% of ppl who apply get rejected- so for students of even ur amazing caliber, its still mostly a numbers name. On paper I suck compared to you but I happened to get in and I’n not even a URM. Enjoy life and your Senior Year and pursue what you love so that if in the rare case you get rejected from ur top picks for school you won’t think of your HS career as “wasted”

What are you interested in studying at Princeton and how will that better the world?

bump! bump!

Princeton513,

To be honest with you, your post seems more like a call for attention than anything else.

You said it yourself, that your school has had many students matriculate to Ivy Leagues, including Princeton. You have done well on a substantial number of standardized tests… yet you are here on College Confidential posting (boasting?), and looking for external confidence. You bumped and re-posted on your own thread four times to get it back to the top.

Where is your confidence in yourself?

With schools like the Ivy’s, they have enough applicants with astronomically high test scores to choose from. That, combined with the fact that the process is holistic, would tell you that it’s not all about your scores.

Maybe what would help you is confidence, humility, and chance.

Good luck.

Make sure you show personality in your essays.
