Chance me for RD 2021 for Dartmouth?

I wanted to post my statistics for college as I am a high school senior and want to know what I can feasibly get into. My general overview is that I have pretty good stats and E.C’s (Extra Curriculars), but Im not developed enough in one area
Objective:
ACT: 34 composite (35 English, 31 Math, 36 Reading, 33 Science)
GPA: Unweighted 3.7 (my school has a college grading system, so if I went to public school it would be in the 3.9’s)
Weighted: 4.32 (same issue as above, would be more in the 4.7’s - 4.8’s, but I could be wrong)
School Type: Private, International Baccalaureate
Rank: 4/5 out of 75 (all IB students, so all very smart)
Intended major(s): 1. Business, 2. Econ, 3. Music
Location: California
Ethnicity/Race: White
Income Bracket: Middle- Upper-Middle

Awards/important recomenders:
Outstanding Scholar in IB Business Award
Outstanding actor in lead role in school play award
Honor roll all 4 years
All State Orchestra member
2nd place in several speech and debate tournaments
Stanford Econ professor who apparently loved my research paper
Teacher recs all 10/10 to at worst 8/10

E.C’s:
Have Played Double Bass for around 10 years, as was principal at Stanford’s youth orchestra and was second chair in their university orchestra
Have toured internationally with another orchestra
Principal (first chair) for some smaller orchestras as well
Vice President of Econ and Stock Market Club
T.A. for IB Econ Class
National Merit Commended Scholar
Have a 3.8 GPA/transcript at Stanford, as I already took classes
3rd degree black belt in Taekwondo
Lead Actor in school play

I have more small stuff like volunteer activities, but I don’t remember them right now. My overview is that Double Bass is a rare instrument and is desirable, but I’m not perfect/not developed enough

Also Important: The two reps I have met with from Dartmouth have asked my name and I have emailed them a lot because they also play music, so they do know me a little bit

Thoughts?

Thanks so much

Dartmouth does not offer a business major for
undergrads so hopefully you did not put that as your intended major. ACT is good. I think the decision may rest on your instrument. If Dartmouth needs a double bass you have a greatly increased chance of admission. I assume you looked into Dartmouth’s orchestra and hopefully reached out to it with tapes.

yea I didnt obviously I put Econ I just listed my interests. Thanks!

What do you mean by “a college grading system”? Are you aware that public schools differ in their grading systems too? Some grade on a 100 point scale, some on a 4 pt scale, there are differing cutoffs for specific grades, some weight, some don’t weight, some rank, some don’t rank? Please don’t be one of those private school students who thinks that they would automatically be at the top of the class in a public school. You might well find that when you get there the top slots are already occupied by students who have ACTs and so forth that are just as good as yours or better.

Anyway, leaving that aside, you seem to have a reasonable chance to me. It sounds as if you should definitely submit an arts supplement.

Have you taken any SATIIs? Do you have any sense of how students from your school have done in D admissions?

Under what circumstances did you take classes at Stanford?

@Consolation . A college grading system is …
4 - A,
3.7 - A-
3.5 - B+
3 - B… and so on.
Most public schools, when on a 4 point grading GPA, count solely by 4,3,2,1. So, OP just meant that his 3.7 GPA would, when evaluated with his context by colleges, would be seen as an equivalent to a 3.9/4.0. OP most likely did this so we would more accurately chance him, which is considerate and correct.

@bubblepop12444 is correct, and thanks. I did take SATII, math II was 740 and US History was 760. Also, I got an official transcript from Stanford with all A’s (one A- in Econ) worth 9 units. Also, I had a fantastic interview where the guy said I was “very intelligent, and “got it”” what ever that meant.

@Consolation I messed up my post so please refer to my previous one. Thanks!

Did you take these courses at Stanford’s summer program for HS students?

Regarding your GPA, at schools like D, it will be evaluated in the context of your school. Schools send a profile with their transcripts that shows grade distribution, amongst other things.

@Consolation yes, specifically Stanford Summer College, so it is an official transcript which counted for units towards my high school as college level courses. It was the equivalent to one semester at Stanford.
