Chance me for RD admission?

Hi! I applied to Smith RD and am anxious to receive a decision. How do you think I'll fare? From the CC forums, it seems like most accepted have near-perfect grades/scores. My home life hasn't been so great but I'm naturally studious and eager to learn.

Working against me:
-I have not taken any AP's (was scheduled to take three in my junior year but then switched to one of the top private schools in Connecticut...admission to AP classes is difficult)
-Junior year, earned a bunch of C's
-Low scores on SAT I: (no tutoring, taken in senior year) CR- 720, W- 680, M- 530

In my favor:
-Earned mostly A's first semester this year (one B+)
-Recommendations should be very good
-Passionate about my extracurriculars (leads in school shows, won Shakespeare monologue contests, honorable mention in national poetry contest, modern dance at school, tutor Spanish-speaking immigrants, founded environmental club in 9th grade, found unpaid internships in 9th and 10th grade summers)
-Diversity? half-African, live with single mother, low-income

Well for sure not all those admitted to Smith have perfect scores/stats etc. Perhaps you are thinking of the early admits whose credentials are indeed stellar. Even so, those things aren’t all that Smith looks at when evaluating your application.

Assuming you let them know your overall situation through your essays, etc., Smith may consider you a good candidate. They are always seeking promising young women of color to add to the diversity of the campus.

Other than your math score, which is not always a deal-breaker(which my own daughter could attest), your stats are not that bad.

Best of luck to you in the coming weeks. Try to stay calm and focused. If not Smith, some school will find your talents a welcome addition. Hopefully you will achieve your goals and dreams.
