Chance for Smith College?

Hi, I'm a junior in high school and I intend to apply to Smith College for early decision next fall.

State: Delaware
Tuition Outlook: My father served in the army and I already have my tuition papers from the VA plus I have a college fund set aside and intend to apply for scholarships.
High School: Public, somewhat competitive
Ethnicity: African American

GPA: 3.75 unweighted
I'm ashamed to admit that I slacked off my Freshman year and suffered a lot of absences but continued to do well and came out with a 3.0 by the end of my freshman year. During my sophomore year I buckled down; (Geometry Honors, English 10 Honors, World History Honors, Biology Honors, Spanish II, Com Tech 1, AVID, and the typical Health & Drivers' Ed). I got all A's and B's and started junior year with a 3.5.

Current Courses: Algebra II Honors, Spanish III Honors, AP Language/Composition, AP Art History, Com Tech II, Chemistry Honors, and US History Honors. I am also a Teacher's Aide.

Potential Senior Courses: AP Literature, AP Psychology, Physics Honors, Pre-Calc Honors, Com Tech III, Teacher's Aide, and AP Environmental Science.

I will be taking the SAT in April but I recently got my second round of PSAT scores back and improved considerably, scoring a 1720 with a 590 in critical reading, a 520 in math, and a 610 in writing. I have been taking an SAT Prep course to prepare.

Extra Curricular: Technology Student Association, Nature & Gardening Club, and I will be joining the National Honor Society at the end of this school year. (This is where I struggle. I'm not an athletic person and don't play any team sports and I'm trying to branch out more since I know extracurriculars are vital.)

Smith is my first choice college and I'm near desperate to get accepted so any feedback would be helpful! Thank you.

I think you have a good chance, esp. if you’re an URM. Smith is SAT optional, so you don’t really have to go crazy over your SAT scores.
