Chance me for Reed ED

Hi! I’m a junior, but the nerves got to me. Please chance me for Reed ED next year. Please keep in mind that this is only what I have done so far, I still have a full year ahead of me before applying.

Stats so far:

GPA (w): 4.5 UW: 3.9

SAT: Will take in March, expecting 1300-1400. I plan to retake until I can get a 1500 or above.

Class Rank: 80/601 (Came to school junior year, old school did not offer as many AP classes.)

Race: Hispanic

Gender: Female (transgender, legally male. My family is extremely unaccepting and refuse to allow me to transition. They put me in a low-performing charter school sophomore year because they believed it would stop take away “bad influences” at my other school).

Income Bracket: 60k (Family of four). This means I need financial aid, which I understand makes my chances lesser at Reed.

APs so far: AP Human (5), AP World (5), AP Spanish Lang (5), AP Gov (expecting a 5), AP Micro (expecting a 5), APUSH (expecting a 5) AP Lang (Expecting a 5). I’m also taking 2 AICE classes (Marine Science and Sociology), it’s a thing down here in Florida. They’re like a British sort of AP. I’m also taking 2 dual enrollment courses.

Plan to senior year: APES, AP Calc BC, AP Stats, AP Spanish Lit, Ap LIt, AP Psychology, 4 dual enrollment classes, 1 AICE class.

Extracurriculars: (Keep in mind I’ve been to 3 different high schools and moved halfway across the country for junior year).

Leadership:
Econ Club President and founder, we do volunteering with junior achievement and other local organizations.
Vice-president of a local activist organization, secretary of another one.
Model UN, 2 awards so far for my only 2 conferences, helping plan activities for the club, expecting to be on the varsity team next year. My school’s team is ranked extremely high nationwide, as in, within the top 10 teams.
99% sure that I will be vice-president of Young Author’s Club next year. I am already very involved in the club.

Non-Leader:
NHS Volunteering
Played bass at a local church group.
Green Club volunteering occasionally.
I play 3 instruments, and I record my own compositions with a small home studio as a hobby.

Non-School:
Internship at a Canadian startup designed to help Latin American bodega owners compete against large supermarket chains. We just launched our pilot program!
Scholastic Writing Award Honorable Mention
Very involved in the philosophy club at a local university. Professor invited me to attend his lectures, and it’s quite possible I might get to be a research assistant over the summer.
Currently trying to get my poetry published. I’m almost certain I’ve been accepted to one place (the person said they were very optimistic about my poem’s acceptance, so let’s hope!!)

Hooks (Maybe?): URM, transgender (idk if this is a hook?), first gen immigrant (Again, is this a hook?), observant of Indigenous Peruvian religious traditions (Idk if this is a hook either).

Other Important Things: I’m taking Pre-Calc and Geometry simultaneously so that I can take AP calc next year because I was put in all regular classes when coming to the United States, despite being recommended for honors.
I also have huge issues with my family due to being transgender, as they refuse to allow me to transition. In fact, I was put in a low-performing charter school in my sophomore year because my parents thought it would make me stop being transgender, as it had strict uniform rules and what not. I Moved to Florida for my junior year due to my dad being forced to switch jobs. Our income got slashed by more than half.

I’ve also applied to their junior fly-in scholarship, and I’m supposed to hear back very soon. I’m so nervous!

The academics you have posted are all solid, you don’t need to worry so much about landing an SAT over 1500 with such a high GPA.
I would urge using your musical talent as a hook, but as long as you communicate your passion + love of academics in your essay, then you will surely land a spot @ Reed.
