How can I improve to make my chances better?

Have you looked at the student profiles for past Robertson winners? That can give you an idea of what they’re looking for. Honestly anyone on CC is going to be just guessing on what you could do, so if I were you I’d go directly to the source and decipher what I can :)

That’s a very good score! Beats my score the first time I took it. Yes it would help to retake, but give yourself some credit.

UNC is required to admit 82% of its students from North Carolina, which subsequently makes OOS admission for the remaining 18% rather competitive. Sometimes students admitted to Duke or similar schools have been rejected from UNC OOS. Your class rank, grades, extracurriculars, and courseload are all very strong. Even your current SAt score is strong as well. Just like for many other top schools I can only tell you that your stats are competitive - whether you get in or not is often a crapshoot but I think you have a great shot :)

Not quite. Only 18% of UNC’s freshman class can be from outside North Carolina. UNC’s OOS admission rate has been around 19-20% the past few years.

with a 2210 and those stats I would say the OP has a good a shot as any for OOS admission to UNC.

and not to sound like a complete ass, but a 2210 is 99 percentile. OP, if you are smart enough to achieve THAT score, I would assume you should also have the common courtesy to not belittle yourself as that will imply that the other 98 percentile should be ashamed of what they scored. Which they shouldn’t be

I actually think it is at least 98… I have a 2250 which is 99 in verbal & writing and 98 in math, at least for the test dates. You’re good to go.

^ Not to be a jerk, but you do realize how awful you sound like saying that it is “96-97 at best.” There is nothing wrong with humility and not overstating or screaming " I GOT IN THE 96TH PERCENTILE" at the top of your lungs, but you are going about it the wrong way, and while I assume you didn’t mean it this way, it sort of rubs some of us with lowly 2100s (please note the sarcasm) or less the wrong way.

makes my 1830 sound horrible…and I took the SAT four times. anything over 2000 would have been a blessing for me. If I were you I wouldnt retake it. You got a kick butt score!

anything 2200+ is in the 99th percentile (if you would only google this…). Don’t be pulling numbers out of your a** Sadahila. Yes, your CR score could, technically, be a tad higher but anything that is above a 2200 is essentially the same thing (aka the difference is negligible) and universities (at least, universities that have holistic admissions processes) will not admit/deny a student simply because they got one more question right on the SAT Critical Reading section than another student.

uhh…do all of you guys go to UNC-Chapel Hill? Because if a simple thread has caused so much unfriendly and negative responses, I wonder what will happen if I actually do attend this school. Even though it was partially my fault, I did apologize.

But of course, I shouldn’t judge a school on a single thread. Maybe I will get a better impression when I visit.

Thanks, Secret Asian Man. That link was helpful.
