Chance me for Rutgers New Brunswick, George Mason University and William & Mary

Hey there! I'm an uprising senior from NJ. I come from a very competitive (and top 10 public school in NJ). I have had rough personal life problems during the end and beginning for my junior year leading to my 3.09 GPA. I scored a 1900 on my SAT and I'm planning on taking it again to break the 2000. I am involved in community service and I was a co-president of a group of breast cancer awareness last year. I have lived in France and Russia prior to moving to the USA (I'm fluent in all 3 languages) and I am currently learning mandarin. I have also been involved in choir for all my HS career. I will have taken 4 APs by the time I graduate. I am aware W&M will be a reach. What are my chances?

Look at some scatterplots on sites such as parchment and cappex. They show actual results for many applicants, although they are self-selected (not random) sample.

Rutgers: likely admit (IS).

GMU: I’d guess about 50-50, maybe a little better. Unlike the high demand schools (UVA, WM) where being OOS makes it much harder to get in, GMU has no trouble filling their IS quota, and will probably be a little easier to get admitted when you’re OOS (and paying the higher OOS tuition).

WM: deny. Even if you were IS, you’d have to be a recruited athlete to get in with that gpa. Since you are OOS, that’s an auto-reject profile.

If you like Virginia schools, have you considered JMU?

Thanks! and yeah I’m not really expecting to get into W&M but I’m just trying it for the heck of it. and I have but I did not like it, it’s too secluded for me.
