Chance me for Rutgers University?

Hey, so I know this might be a bit ambitious of me to want to get in here but I’m a student from an extremely competitive high school in Maryland. I’ll just list a few of my things and could you chance me? I want to apply to Rutgers, New Brunswick: School of Arts and Science, and I want to major in psychology (if that helps).

So my weighted GPA is like 4.27 and unweighted is 3.57 (I kinda screwed up my grades freshman year)

I got 4s on: AP Gov, AP Calc, AP English
I got 5s on: AP Psych and AP World History

ACT score: 30, but I plan on taking it again.

I’ve played the viola for 10 years, playing in a more advanced orchestra in high school.

I’ve done dance for 12 years.

I’ve been in Model UN, Relay for Life (a club that raises money for cancer research), I did Science Olympiad for 2 years and Key Club.

I have a lot of volunteer hours, and I shadowed a surgical oncologist at a hospital over the summer and on days off during my sophomore year.

I’m not sure what my essay will be about yet, but I think it’ll be something about being proud of who you are especially in an environment that frowns upon differences.

I know Rutgers is probably a reach school…but chance me? Thank you!

Assuming the weighted gpa is on a 5 scale, you’re in. Many people get in with much less. The 30 ACT score helps a lot.

Rutgers isn’t that much of a reach. I’m not really sure about OOS admissions since I live in NJ but people get in with a lot less (at least to SAS) and your test scores, course rigor and ECs are pretty good. It could go either way but I think you are a pretty competitive candidate and I wish you the best of luck.

Curious why you would want to go to Rutgers instead of UMD?

I was kinda looking at schools outside of MD just to get a new experience, and Rutgers is my number one out of state.

Just funny because I live in NJ and a lot of kids from my school go to UMD and don’t want to go to Rutgers! It would be much cheaper for you to go to UMD, but you probably know that.

Oh yeah, it’ll be a whole lot cheaper. If I get into UMD i’ll probably commit there, but I was just looking at my chances at other schools. @jnkam24
