I've consistently taken an extra sixth course when the average course load at my school is five courses.

Recommendations:
English Teacher - will be very strong. I got a 6 all year round (it's out of 6) and he's really meticulous about recs, or so I've heard from previous students.
Bio Teacher - I'm not sure how strong this app will be but UPenn wants you to get a rec from a teacher in your area of interest... so I really don't have a choice! haha. He's a nice guy and I'm sure he'll write a decent rec, just don't know how inspiring...
College Counselor - is also my house counselor. She knows me really well since I'm a proctor, so I'm pretty sure this will be a strong rec since she can provide a different perspective of what kind of person I am outside of the classroom.

Essays:
Very strong if I could say so myself haha :D
I seriously slaved away my life writing these things ;_;.

Hooks: I speak English, Chinese, French, Spanish, and Korean. And I've studied German and Latin as well for both a year in the ninth grade.

So yeah, GPA... not that pretty. Screwed up in tenth grade. But in eleventh grade I'd say I averaged a 5.2/6...???? Since my school doesn't report GPAs...and they will focus on my junior year grades more than my sophomore year grades? But I'm not too confident on M&T T____T.

You should stick to SEAS as M&T is a ultra-super Reach. Your Rank, SAT Reasoning and GPA are not even SEAS worthy let alone M&T. Your ECs, Recs and Essays should strengthen your profile but I doubt you would still make it at Penn or any other IVY. I feel Northwestern, U Mich and Illinois are a strong match for you.

Best of Luck!
I hope my statements are proved wrong and you get accepted at your dream college.

Is this for RD or ED? 34 ACT should override the sub 700 SAT scores. Top 25% ranking at Phillips Academy is not as negative one might think compares to top 25% from other public high schools. I can’t judge exactly what GPA 5.0 out of 6.0 means, hopefully the transcript looks good and contains mostly As. While M&T is very exclusive and a reach for just about anyone, I don’t think you are a clear outlier for SEAS. Make sure you have outstanding essays and show a lot of interest.

thank you to you both :)!! i totally understand the thing about M&T, honestly i never thought i had a chance, but since they let you pick a single-degree backup i thought that it wouldn’t hurt me so v______v. this is for ED.

the thing about rank though is that my school doesn’t rank… so i don’t think that would affect me? ahhh idk hahaha.

as for SAT reasoning… i only put it up cause penn asks you to submit everything @@. buuut i think my ACT break up sounds okay right?

composite: 34
writing:34
math: 33 (urgh i do not understand why i did badly ㅠㅠ)
reading:35
science: 35

um you are a girl applying to engineering so that significantly boosts your chances. It’s still pretty questionable due to your terribad GPA. Your ACT is perfect for any Ivy. Did you send in your SATs? Because it’s possible those could lower your chances.

They only look at your highest. And you go to Phillips, I’m sorry but top 25% at Andover=top10%other school minus other top boarding schools.

You definitely have a 50/50 shot and I don’t think that any Ivy is such a ridiculous reach given your rigorous academics.
