I'm currently a sophomore with high hopes of getting into Cornell, most likely as a Chem or Bio major, I don't know if I would go CALS of CAS yet.

-4.0 unweighted
-got a 187 on my PSAT as a sophomore (I'm hoping to be a lot higher next year, possibly NMS since I didn't prepare at all last time)
-2 APs this year, most likely 4's or 5's and I am expecting to take about 10 by the time I graduate
-My dad went there so legacy (not sure if that helps)
-Not much community service yet, about 35 hours, hopefully will have a lot more my the time I apply.
-Athletics (by the time I graduate): 3 years of XC, 3 years of swimming, 4 years of track. I am nowhere near good enough in any of them though to play for the school.
-ECs: Ecoteam (will have leadership by the time a graduate), GSA, school paper (might be leadership of that), and a lot more that don't do anything so I didn't include them. I might start a science club next year.

What do you think? am I on track? need to improve somewhere? chances if I keep it up?

improve your sats big time
Legacy + ed can help very very very much too
grades seem good but you need good ranking/tough courseload not just a 4.0. If you have a 4.0 and a tough courseload good for you you’re good to go in that area!

yea, I was planning on applying ED if I have a good chance. Also I am taking the hardest course load possible. My school doesn’t weight grades so without the weighting I am like 11 but if all the grades were weighted I would be 4. I think either way my rank will go up because next year I will be taking more math/science courses because I am better in them and less English/ History courses (they were the only APs for this year so I took them).

Other than that, what do you think my junior year PSAT should be and my SAT?

2100 at least for bio (over-represented major), 2250 to be relatively safe considering everything else is good

I think with ED 2000-2200 should be fine for you though since you have legacy too, if you’re applying for cals. cas is defs tougher.
Depends on how good everything else is i guess, and you have to write a great essay + get great recs

legacy isn’t everything. to me, it looks like you’re going to be head over heels in work your junior and senior years. colleges want to see consistency, so start getting more involved now.

Avoid a laundry list of ECs. Stay focused on 1 or 2. Think about how you can weave an essay around ECs and relate to your future academic, professional and life goals.
.
You have a stong chance. It is yours to loose if you dont focus on meaningful ECs, good essays and good recommendations. Identify 2 recommenders and think about what will make them give you an extraordinary reccomendation (everybody gets good recommendationd and good won’t cut it)
