*I'm applying ED at Stern

oh damn, my senior schedule also includes ap econ, some mandatory finance course, and outdoor ed.

Bumb? Idk how to do this lol

Your test scores are fine. Your GPA is a little low, but if you have your counselor write a letter explaining the drop in junior year that should help a bit. Your ec’s lack depth (you’ve been involved in all of them for only two years except one unless i am interpreting it wrong, if you’ve been involved from 10-12 then its fine but 11-12 is gonna look a little lacking). But overall I think you have a pretty good chance for ed stern

The reason it’s been 2 years is because I transferred schools, so some of them are 2 years (from the old school) and some are 1 year (in the new school). But yeah, my junior year gpa crushed my chances for stern.

The grades get your foot in the door, and the ECs/Essays open up the door all the way for you to be accepted.

Work on the Essays because theres not much time to improve EC, and you’ll be set for ED Stern. Good luck man!

Thanks man, but I’m just a little scared. If it weren’t for my junior year gpa, I think I’d have a great shot at Stern and maybe even an ed at Wharton, but the gpa just killed me.

I don’t wanna keep bumping because it seems wrong. But anyone else have any ideas or comments?

NYU ED at Stern is a high match
PENN WHARTON is a high reach (downward trend will hurt a bit)

I definitely think you have a good shot at Stern ED… Make sure your guidance counselor addresses that you moved in the middle of the school year in his or her recommendation. I feel like most admissions officers are aware of how hard it is to move in the middle of the year and if you get a 4.0 or near that in your first marking period of senior year that will make your low grades junior year a mute point.

thanks for your advice man, appreciate it.

I think a lot of people underestimate how hard it is to get into Stern, as there are so few slots and a lot of people applying. Having said that, I think you have a decent shot at Stern, and possibly Wharton, if you nail your essays, Have you considered other business schools like Berkeley (Haas), Carnegie (Tepper), Michigan (Ross), USC (Marshall)? You’d be in the target range for most of those schools definitely.

Have you considered Michigan Ross? It is tied with MIT for second (to Wharton, that is) best undergrad business program. They have a preferred-admission program where they give a very select few students guaranteed admission to the BBA program that starts sophomore year. It is highly competitive and almost everyone at Michigan wants to apply to Ross so it creates an amazing and relaxing freshman year for you, as you do not have to worry about applying (and your GPA resets once you start at Ross). I suggest this because you have stats that were similar to mine and that is where I have ended up (high ACT and good, but not stellar GPA which can be made up for with outstanding essays). While I think your chances are good at Stern, I would consider Michigan (if you haven’t already) because its business program’s reputation is slightly better. I know Ann Arbor is not NYC, but I would argue that is even better, since you will likely be living in NYC all after college (while you do an amazing investment banking job that Ross hooks you up with
). Also, it only has EA so you could hear back from Wharton and other places without binding in to Stern. Something to consider. Good luck and I wish you all the best wherever that may be.

I have considered it. and I’ll be trying for the pre-admit. But Stern just makes sense since I live very close to the city and my entire family is near by. I’m not looking to leave the tri state area.

And thanks for the advice Mikey But isn’t HAAS harder to get into than Stern? I think if I ED Stern I’ll have a good shot of getting in. Hopefully.
