Chance Me For Syracuse, Fordham, NYU Poly, Baruch, etc.

Current GPA: 3.0/4.0 (85.5)
My school only goes up to 4.0 because the highest you can get in a class is a 95, unless that class is an AP course. In my school, the GPA is calculated by subtracting 55 from your average.

Current Classes: (Junior)

Pre Calculus
AP US History
English
Physics
Trigonometry
Math Team

Senior Year Courses:

AP English
AP Statistics
AP Physics
AP Economics

I am from New York City, from the borough of Brooklyn. I do not have much EC but here is the list, I suppose.

After school sports program, which meets three times a week.
Math tutor for school service credit.

That's about it but I also create and publish websites in my free time. I have a longstanding blog, which has been sponsored by a web hosting company and I write articles about web hosting, servers, and technology.

Anyways, I want to either major in Finance/Investment or Computer/Software engineering.

The schools, I really want to go to are:

NYU- Don't think I will make it, sadly.
Syracuse University
CUNY Baruch
RIT
NYU Poly
Fordham

Anyways, what do you think my chances are? I'm going to be taking the SAT in a week. I haven't really studied but I plan to go all out on the October one, with some tutoring from SAT prep during the summer.

THANKS!

Hey man, I would say for the most part its going to be a bit tough… The B+ average is fine, but it appears you haven’t taken too many challenging courses up to your senior you. Based on your application as a whole, I would say you need high SAT scores ( though NYU may be difficult to get into despite that).

For Syracuse and Fordham, I would say you will need high SAT scores as well. However, if you can find a way to stand out on your application through co-curricular activities, maybe you will be alright. Same goes for the other schools.

Dont mean to sound like I’m coming off harsh, but I would say you have a bit of work to do over the next few months.

Thanks, yeah I know I need to do more work  hopefully, I can raise my average in the first semester of next year.

Anyways, anyone else?

Thanks again.
