I am currently doing IB Diploma and getting predicted 29 points with my HL Subjects as Physics (6), Chem (5) and Business (5). My ACT is a 24 and gpa 3.45 with plenty of ECs including participating in national robotics olympiad among them. I want to take Chemical Engineering so what do you think are my chances for these unis: Texas a&m, U o T at Austin, Purdue University, Ohio State University and Wisconsin-Madison? So far I got an offer from Iowa State as my safety school and how about UBC at Canada?
Thank you for the response!! Do you know the scores that UBC usually accept? Yeah, I agree with you that the rest is reach universities and I applied because you never know what can happen.
It’s really hard to say since there isn’t much information out there. If you already applied I think you’d have a better chance. My school uses a website called parchment and I saw that people with similar scores got accepted already this year, but just checked it now for you and realized the average scores of people accepted last year had a 30 act and 3.6 gpa. I am confused because their average at the moment this year is a 22 act and 3.7 gpa, though this was for early applicants. So sorry if I mislead, now I am not really sure of your chances there, but I would still apply if I were you. Can’t hurt. Could you help me too? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1826115-where-should-i-apply-intended-major-biology.html#latest
Average ACT at Illinois for engineering (which is a top 10 program, if not top 5) is 31-34. I think the other schools are also a reach–a lot of engineering applicants are getting 30+ in math. You need to look up the average stats for each school (search for freshman class profile on each school’s site) and that will give you an idea of where you fall on the spectrurm.
@Madison85 No, I don’t think I could retake it for the december test due to the ib mocks coming up. However, I just got accepted into Purdue University so I’m not too concerned if I do get rejected from Wisconsin or UT Austin
