Essays:
I already submitted my U of U essay for the honors college, I'm not worried about admission there. My personal statement for the UC program is pretty solid, I'd say I'm a good writer when it comes to school.

I'm angling for an English or humanities education, it's pretty obvious that that's where my strengths lie...

I think that your SAT scores might hurt your chances for schools such as UCLA and UC Berkley. However, you might still have a shot as your extra-curricular activities are quite strong

I’m definitely submitting my ACT score, I feel comfortable with those more than my SAT

I’d say you have very good odds for getting in to Cal Poly Slo, UCSB, and UCD. UCLA and Berkeley might be a bit of a reach, though.

I know nothing of the University of Utah, but if it’s a safety school, I’m assuming you feel rather good about your chances of being accepted there.

Berkley, UCLA, and UCSD are reaches, but still possible. The other schools you should definitely get in!

So chancemaster12 says my EC’s are weak. What exactly makes them weak?

I have no idea. They look fairly strong to me.

Maybe he or she is implying that you need to have, in no particular order, saved a village in Africa, built seven houses single-handed for the homeless, written a book, liberated a small country from a dictatorship, and been class president.

Hahaha thank you! We can’t all be global superheroes :)

I feel like chancemaster12 might have been being sarcastic? Haha I’m pretty jealous of all those EC’s.

ur smart u r gunna get in2 the scool good luck

Bumpppppppppp

Results thus far:

Accepted:
University of Utah (honors, scholarship)
Cal Poly SLO (sociology major)
UC Davis
UC Santa Barbara

Waitlisted:
UC San Diego

Nervously waiting for UCLA and Berkeley!

Omgs, sames breh. UCLA on Friday imaaa dieeeee.

UCLA: in
Berkeley: denied

Do me, fellow humanities-major-to-be?
DENIED BY UCLA YEEE

Still waiting on Berkeley but it looks like I’m going to be easily rejected from there as well.

Don’t write Berkeley off just yet! It’s not uncommon for students to get rejected from UCLA, but get into Berkeley. Heck I’m a regents candidate at Berkeley (meaning I’m in the top 2% of their application pool) but I got straight up rejected from UCLA on Friday.
