Chance Me For Top B-Schools

Applying to HBS, Stanford, Wharton (Lauder program), Columbia, London Business School, UC Berkeley Haas, NYU, Northwestern, UChicago Booth, and a couple others.

I mainly want to know a) if my overall story and goals make sense and are interesting/unique enough, but b) still competitive against more typical IB analysts and people in marketing sales. How strong does my “global tech” vibe come across, and is that a good way to go, or should I try to market myself in some other way? Is it advised to focus more on my experience in and goals for ONE industry (I have worked with medical technologies, education, enterprise tech, and public sector/economic engagement).

Here are my stats:

  • Economics major (with several quantitative comp sci, statistics, and econometrics courses) and Chinese minor
  • 3.7 GPA at top public Ivy
*730 GMAT (took a practice exam after I got my scores, and I scored a 740… does this make a big difference/is it worth taking again?)
  • Proficient in 6 foreign languages (Spanish, Chinese, French, Arabic, Russian, and Korean)
  • Moved to Madrid right after undergraduate to get an immersive global experience and get outside my comfort zone
  • One year as a business analyst at small healthcare startup in Spain
  • Current associate (one year of experience) at McKinsey in Europe with a focus on innovation tech and social impact/public sector solutions. Experience working with small business, larger corporations, NGOs, and foreign governments and helped to develop and integrate new technologies across the social sector.
  • Extracurriculars: data science side project for a “data science for good” organization researching various social issues, volunteer with a city government initiative to improve economic participation of marginalized communities, board of directors of a global education NGO,
  • Wants to attend business school (hopefully as a joint program with an MPA or MIA) to transition from consulting into product management or BizOps. Long-term goal: global strategy & corporate development or venture capital
  • White American female, age 26
