Chance me for top Business/Economics Program. I chance back!

Hey, everyone! So I’m applying to a bunch of business schools this fall and I was wondering whether you guys could chance me! I don’t have the best GPA, but hopefully I can make up for it.

School type:

Pretty crappy urban school
Ethnicity: Central Asian (Jewish)
Income: Not actually sure. Single parent household, dad owns lots of real estate and corner stores. Probably low on paper, but high since most of it is in the business.
GPA: 4.3 Weighted/ 3.65 Unweighted (top 10% of the class. No excuses, but my family situation, work, and ECs contributed to this)
SAT: 2310 (800 Math/800 Writing/710 Reading)
SAT II Math: 800, SAT II Biology: 800

Recs:
Econ Teacher (10/10): “The most talented student I’ve ever had. He has the highest business acumen of any teenager I’ve met thus far”
Physics Teacher (8/10): Likes me since I routinely tutor students outside of school.

Essays:
Talks about me and my family’s struggles to fit in after we left our country due to a civil war and how seeing my father take us from being broke to being wealthy and being a part of that process by doing everything from mowing lawns to reselling chocolate bars in elementary and middle schools has influenced my mindset today. I think it’s pretty good.

Coursework:

Sophomore:
AP Calculus BC (5)
Honors Classes

Junior:
AP Economics (5)
AP Statistics (5)
Multivariable Calculus (A)
AP Chemistry (5)
APUSH (5)
Dual Enrollment Hebrew

Senior:
Differential Equations
AP Physics
Dual Enrollment Automotive Classes
AP English
Dual Enrollment Hebrew

ECs:

Lawn Mowing Business (7th grade - Freshman Year): Made around $6000 a year by Freshman year through mowing people’s lawns. Had two “employees” under me.

Window Tinting and Automobile Business (Founder, sole proprietor. Since end of Freshman Year): My business made approximately $12000 profit a year before taxes during its first year. We’re on track to do about $21000 profit this year. In addition, I buy automotive parts and solar panels in bulk and sell them on eBay. I made $7000 profit last year by doing this. I have one co-founder of this. I have been mentioned in local newspapers and have received local business awards for my accomplishments.

Investment Club (President): I made 45% annual returns in our fake portfolio and 25% returns on my parents’ portfolio. I also have a Youtube channel where I talk about topics like Leveraged Buyouts, Black-Scholes models, and Personal Finance.

Class Treasurer (Freshman, Sophomore) and Vice President (Junior, Senior): Streamlined the fundraising and club application process. Raised around $3000 for our school through selling water bottles at local college football games for $1 each and through bake sales and other fundraisers. Implemented a tutoring program for the school through the various Honor Societies at the school.

Mu Alpha Theta (President): National Semifinalists in Moody’s Mega Math Challenge, started a tutoring program at local middle schools.

Model United Nations (President): Have received “Best Delegate” at a few local and national level competitions.

Member of National English Honor Society, National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society

Boy’s State Attendee

Schools I’m applying to:
Harvard Economics
Wharton (Penn) for joint Engineering/Business special program
Sloan (MIT)
NYU (Stern)
Babson College
UIUC Economics
UIC Economics
Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Very, very solid, GPA is the only thing that could hurt your image, but keep in mind that your weighted is a big improvements. I’d say you have a good shot at everything, but maybe apply to other schools in your area that are safeties? With your test scores and ECs, I’d say you’re a shoo-in, but you never know with competitive schools.

Wow! Very impressive ECs, and great variety. To some degree, your AP and SAT scores make up for your GPA to some degree. I’m not incredibly educated on the economics side of things, so I can’t really chance you for those specific programs, but I can (sort of daftly) tell you that I’m jealous, you look like an excellent applicant and I wish you the best!

Also, your ECs so obviously show that you are cut out for economics. If you can, get an interview so you can put a face to all of that passion that shows up on paper.

Just a gut reaction, I feel like Wharton would be a good choice (if you you don’t mind pervasive bro culture)
