Chance me for top engineering schools. You know, like top 20-ish...

Northwestern (i would be legacy since my grandfather attended :P)
Stanford
UC Berkeley (already applied)
Cornell perhaps....
U Chicago
Purdue (already applied)
Oregon State
Case western
Stevens institute of technology
Carnegie Mellon
Suggest more for me please ( I want to go into computer engineering )
Possibly others?

So I will list my stats below and I would greatly appreciate if you could rank these schools (reach, match, safety) and narrow my choices down a bit ( and also save my hands from all of these essays ).

Basic STATS:

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: My school does not weight GPA....however, I have taken the hardest classes available.

SAT: 2060 superscore(710 W, 680 M, 670 R)
ACT: just took today, hoping for 31+
SAT II: get scores soon, i took chem and math II

Class Rank: 1/400-ish

AP Classes: AP US History (4), AP Calculus BC, AP Chemistry, AP Literature, AP European History.

Of which im taking this (Senior) year:
AP Chemistry
AP Calc BC
AP Literature
AP European History
Also taking College Writing, which is rigorous and satisfies some college credit

EC's:

National Honors Society
-Freshman Baseball Grade 9, JV Baseball Grades 10-11, Varsity Baseball Spring 2012
-Swimming Grade 10
-German Club Grades 9-11
-Engineering Club president Grades 9-11

Science Club president 11-12
-Clare Bridge Memory Care Senior Living 2009-Present (over 140 hours)
-Dayspring Fellowship Youth Program Grades 7-11
-St. Edwards Youth Grades 9-10

-VEX Robotics Competition Grade 11, 12

-GAPP, I spent a month in germany immersed in the culture, schools, etc. also hosted an exchange student.

Work Experience:

-Wine Bottling for Brooks Wines Grades 10-12 (over 60 hours)
-K.Y.S.A Baseball Umpire Grades 10-12 (over 70 hours)

My recs should be amazing, I am really close with my German teacher, and he has been known to write great recs... My english teacher will write my other one, and we share common insights, and he is the teacher I have the most respect for

My essays are going to be amazing, I have worked with a few for a while, and my NU supplement is perfect....

So please give me your thoughts and I will love you forever! Just kidding, that would be weird...

Also does having a grandpa that attended northwestern help my chances there? I have heard it does...

gpa Is good but test scores are a little low, also no leadership in ECs + no comm servie
Northwestern (i would be legacy since my grandfather attended :P)
Stanford high match
UC Berkeley (already applied) high match
Cornell perhaps… high reach
U Chicago - low reach
NW match

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1426291-chance-me-i-chance-back-asap.html</a></p>

@sameer1…leadership in ECs? I was captain of my robotics team, and president of science AND engineering club…how is that not leadership? Also, community service-wise, I was an activities coordinator for the alzheimers home in my area… i have 140 hours there…how is that not community service?

Bumppp… Come on guys pleaseee

I’m not qualified to chance, but I can recommend a few more schools. How about WPI in Worcester, or Rennselear (never know how to spell that), Northeastern, or RIT. The latter two have pretty well known co-op programs if that is something that interests you.

Personally, i thought the EC’s and leadership looked good, as well as rigor of Sr. year course load. I think it might help for engineering to bring up the Math SatI if possible. I guess there is no more time to do that, though, right?

yeah thats why I took the ACT… I am expecting a 31+ so I should be okay in the testing respect…

hmm low sat. what did you get on your aps? nice ranking though. nothing spectacular about ecs. did you get any leadership positions in them? nothwestern, uchic, stan, and carnegie(with engineering) are high reaches. berk and cornell are mid reaches. rest are match. RETAKE sat or act. if you bring them up, your chances will be much better. chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1427201-cornell-chances.html</a></p>

Reaches:
UCHI, Stanford

Low reach:
NU, CMU, Cornell

High match:
Berkeley

Match:
Case
UM
UIUC

Safe:
Purdue

I would apply to UIUC and UMich if I were you. They value GPA/rank more than ACT/SAT, so your low testing scores wouldn’t hurt you as much. With a 31, I think you’d be a match for both UIUC and Umich.

Best of luck!

thanks! I was thinking about UIUC too… Do you really think Berkeley is a match? I am out of state…

Also what about duke?

bump please… need some more opinions…

If you get your Standardized Test scores up, you will be a very competitive applicant. You have a 4.0 GPA, are valedictorian and have some good ECs. Top schools are always very hard and unpredictable to get into. If you write some good essays, I think you will dfenitley get into a reach school. It can be pretty hard to predict, but all you can do is try. Good luck!

Chance me back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1418125-chance-me-duke-other-top-schools.html</a></p>

Bump please… I am also one of the only people from my school applying anywhere “prestigious” if you know what I mean… Does that help?

Reply please… Bump … I also submitted my duke supplement yesterday… What are my chances at Pratt with a 31+?
