Regular SAT: 1575

Is this out of 2400 or 1600(I suspect 1600 because you seem to be a very good student, but you are 18 so just checking)?

upper middle class… i will need a bit of aid

If you are considered upper middle class its not going to be easy to qualify for financial aid.

Your GPA and other standardized tests seem ok. Just curious, how could you have a 4.5 GPA in freshman and 5.0 in Junior year if you didn’t have all honors in freshman year and didn’t have all AP in junior year? Is it off a different scale (I am assuming regs-4 honors-4.5 AP-5)?

EC’s in school and outside of school seem to be very good. 200 hours volunteering isn’t excessive considering EC’s.

Overall, you seem to have decent chances(at getting in), especially considering your EC’s. However, I doubt your chances for financial aid are very good.

Can you please specify more on your class ranking? You say that you are top 10% but looking at your GPA shouldn’t you be more top 1-3%(if you go to a typical HS)?

I agree with the person above, because of your kickass ACT score, I think you have a good shot at anywhere. Not only are your grades good, you also have amazing EC’s. I have a good feeling for you at all of these places. Especially Boston University or Brown!

I think getting in is easy for her, just not getting financial aid since she says she is Upper Middle Class.

Little to No FA from UCB and UCLA for OOS students so expect to pay $55K+/year.
Look look like a competitive applicant so you have a good chance at the UC’s as long as they are affordable.

@RMM wrt to my gpa APs/Honors/Academy courses are weighted the same (5 points) at my school and I had all a’s every year except for 2 b’s freshman year, one of which was an honors class - and I mean typical hs in which most students stay in state, kids are actually v involved in things like band and choir (about 1/6 of the students were in the school choir program in a school of 2000) and generally get rlly good grades w/ a decent amount of kids in the honors/AP track

Seems like Berkeley, Columbia and Brown are probably going to be reaches for you (and everybody else), but the rest are probably low reach/match. You shouldn’t have a problem getting into most of those schools with your test scores and extracurriculars

Very, very strong candidate. Scores are darn near perfect, you show strong commitment to all your EC’s. You’re extremely involved in writing, athletics, music, volunteering. You have a great shot at all of these.

Your profile is very impressive. I think you will get in everywhere. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1943951-chance-me-i-will-chance-back.html#latest

my gpa APs/Honors/Academy courses are weighted the same (5 points) at my school

If they are weighted the same then whats the difference between that and your unweighted GPA (like theres really no point then).

@RMNiMiTz weighted the same meaning all high level courses have the same kind of weighting, regular level courses are weighted 4 points each.

I agree with everyone, your credentials are amazing & your list is definitely manageable. Best of luck!

How do you get a 1575 on the SAT? That’s all I’m wondering. You have a good chance though for all you mentioned.

I think you have a very good chance at all of these school, but I don’t think you’ll get financial aid anywhere. You may be able to get merit aid at some of the not as elite schools on your list.

What is your intended major

I think you should definitely get accepted to most of these schools. The only one that’s really a reach is Columbia, but that’s just because they receive a lot of really qualified applicants. Good luck!

@tigerman333 double major in journalism/teaching

Berkeley- accepted

How do you get a 1575? Doesn’t the SAT go by 10s? Also what state are you in (or what are your in-state schools)? Anyways, here are my thoughts:

Almost definitely accepted:
U of I - Not sure which UI this is - Iowa? Illinois? Indiana?
Twin cities? Is this U of Minnesota?
Occidental
Wesleyan
Boston U
NYU

Probably accepted (Depends on state residency):
UC Berkeley
UCLA
U Mich

Toss up:
Barnard
Carnegie Mellon

Unlikely accepted (but still have great app for):
Columbia
Brown
