Hey guys, so I'm looking to transfer into Cornell for computer science (In the college of arts and sciences I believe you can transfer in the spring term) some time around next year (from my current university's computer science program), I was wondering if you guys could tell me what my chances are? Here are my stats:
GPA: 3.98/4.00

EC's: -Internship at Intel as a validation engineer/technician (summer after freshman year)
-Currently interning at Hewlett Packard (HP-the company known for making printers) as a software engineer (for the summer)
-4 years of being on a first tech challenge robotics team in high school, went to national championships twice
-Will maybe have another prestigious internship under my belt at the time that I apply
-Spent a year on my current schools mars rover robotics team (competing in the university rover challenge)
-various other coding / programming side projects (don't know how much this matters)

I can get excellent letters of recommendation from my teachers, and employers (if your allowed to get them from employers. My concerns are however that I am applying from out of state, and that I have 1 B- in a compsci class. It is only 1, but being that this is indeed Cornell I feel like this can severely hurt my chances, though I am not sure. What do you guys think?

I’ll bump this because I was thinking of applying for the same major next spring, but don’t have all the EC stuff that you have. What courses have you taken pertaining to CS/Engineering?

@Numbersz are you applying for an internal transfer or external? Meaning are you already at cornell and looking to switch majors, or applying for transfer from an outside university like I am?

This is what I have taken, keep in mind these are for my uni, courses may be named differently at yours:
-Intro to computer science I and II
-Intro to Data Structures
-Intro to databases
-Operating Systems I
-Software Engineering I
-Introduction to computer networks
-An introductory circuits analysis course
-General Physics with calculus for engineers (mechanics, electronics, waves, etc…)
-Discrete Mathematics
-I have CLEP credit for differential and integral calculus, but I dont think cornell takes CLEP credits
-Vector Calculus
-Matrices and Power series
-Applied Differential Equations

External, I’m not at Cornell. If they accept spring transfers for CS I think you have a good chance with the range of classes you have taken. I probably won’t apply, I have just been looking for the best schools that actually accept spring transfers but I’m sure Cornell is out of my league. I switched majors and have very little engineering stuff (I’m only in Calc I and a couple programming classes right now).
