Chance me for Tufts (or other good schools ;)! (thanks, DrJamesDaAZN)

Hey fellas, I'm a senior at a crappy intercity school, but I applied ED to Tufts and I'm kind of stressing a little.

Quick rundown of academics:
SAT 2210
GPA 95.3 UW
Rank 13/510 (top 2.5%)
7 AP Total, all honors otherwise
Intended major bio

Extras:
Varsity Wrestling/Tennis Captain 1 year, athlete for 4
Moderate extra curric involvement, mostly sports and jobs =/. 6 week bio research program at local college, several months of paid lifeguarding
Natl Honors Society
AP scholar (5 on bio)

I think that while the above may be lacking in the extracurricular department, it's enough to be a good candidate for Tufts. Here's what I think may set me apart. Do you agree?

Recommendations: My guidance counselor said she wrote me an outstanding one; a PhD Toxicologist wrote me one where he stated in a nutshell that I was a real pleasure to work with and I "demonstrated better ability for processing and using information than the majority of incoming freshman" (he is a freshman lab teacher also); my bio ap teacher described me as her most brilliant student (modest, i know), and said she wrote me an amazing rec. So there's those, which I think are strong. I could link them, but to be honest I'd rather not =P.

Alum interview: Not the most important, I know, but we had a good hour discussion and he seemed impressed and I was pleased, so that certainly doesn't hurt.

Writing: I worked very hard on my writing, and the three tufts supps. The thing I didn't do (regrettably) is the tufts optional. I was running out of time. My supps were about how being a painter has shaped my values and aspirations, how wrestling alongside demotivated but good kids has shaped my views on humanity, and a good "why tufts?" piece. Commonapp personal was about an issue that i was interested in, I wrote about drug resistant bacteria and Lyme disease which my dad has, and how that's shown me some of the issues we face in medicine. So overall I feel like I had strong topics.

I guess I'm just worrying a little and would like an opinion other than my dad's or mom's. If I forgot anything, just ask. Chance me CC =)

If your CR + math is not below 1440 you should be in good shape---- although Tufts is very difficult to get into, of course.

1440 doesn’t matter. I applied RD and am at Tufts now - and I had a 1400 CR+M but a 2200 overall, which you beat. I didn’t do the optional essay (it really is optional!) and am an unhooked caucasian female from suburban Pennsylvania. You sound like a very qualified candidate and I think you have an excellent shot at getting accepted.

Thanks for the replies. I have an 800 crit reading, 690 math so 1490 total. Still it would help if Tufts wasn’t so darn selective =/. I feel good though

That’s the thing about tufts, they have so many more qualified people applying than spots, even if you’re qualified, nothing is guaranteed. Good luck!
