chance me for Tufts!

Hey,
I'm a sophomore in high school. I'm an Asian male, first generation college bound student though (does that even matter?). I'm not from a rich family but somehow my parents managed to send me to a somewhat good private school.

Scores as of date:
PSAT: 180
SAT: Will be taken in the fall after studying over the summer (I'm predicting a score of 2100 at least)

GPA: 3.5 UW , 4.0 W
Had 5 As and 1 B freshman year (All honors classes)
I currently have 2 As and 4 Bs right now as a sophomore. (All honors classes)
As a junior I will take 3 APs

Important things:
I'm trying to get recruited for soccer. Hopefully that will up my chances.
Student senate.
150+ volunteer hours as a sophomore (Internship at local hospital + Youth soccer coaching)
Latin club
Very dedicated to soccer
Key club
Model UN
2 years varisty soccer
JV basketball
Varsity Track and Field (Qualified for states)

Really unsure at this point. Tufts recently (last year) launched a massive promotional campaign and experienced a huge increase in applicants this year.

Your SAT will probably need to be a bit more than a 2100, the GPA could use a boost, course rigor seems fine. If you really are that good at soccer that might help your chances; however, you are definitely gonna need to kill it on the essays.

I had a better GPA & Volunteering and about the same EC’s. I was rejected this year along a couple other high ranking students in my class (All of us are top 10 at a well know private high school).

umm… GPA is a little low… but u never now! Apply and see if u get in

@Hacktacular:

Thanks so much for the chance, appreciate it. Like you said, I definitely see a need to boost my GPA/SAT but that’s wishful thinking. If my scores stay like this til senior year, what is the realistic chance that I may be accepted? It is a high reach or low reach?

Also, how’s the demographics at Tufts? Are there many Asians? Would being an Asian-athlete help? Would being a first gen college bound student help? Both my parents did not attend college.

Tufts has a D3 soccer program and not to brag but I’m a pretty good high school soccer player (regional player and all star).
