Freshmen year uw/w: 2.00 gpa, my brother had cancer so I missed alot of school, pretty much nothing else happened
Sophomore year: 3.75 gpa uw/w, won best biology student, best history student, best English student, played varsity tennis. Started a very well received comedy show on my schools bulletin, won a tri-county biology contest, volunteered for 30 hours at an aids food bank
Junior 3.85 uw, 4.3 w: took 3 APs and an accelerated, ran varsity cross country, v tennis, won best physics/ap bio student, most fluent Spanish student. was the ap ush representative for leadership, became a safe school ambassador (a bully fighting program), volunteered approx 100+ hours total at the free teen clinic.
That summer I took precalc and Spanish 3
Senior: 3.85 uw, 4.4 w: senior class president, 60 more hours at the teen clinic, a humanitarian trip to Nicaragua. Another year of cross country and tennis
Since sophomore year I've been a scholar athlete, and have continued my comedy show (the school actually gave me a period for it!)

I'll be applying re and my teacher reds are friggin stellar! What are my chances?

Since Tufts is so holistic in their application process, it’s hard to chance anyone.
However, I wish you very good luck! Make sure your essays really convey you as a person. :)

Thanks! Anyone else?

Borderline reach. But if your schedule was as rigorous as possible - in Jr/Sr year did you take non-AP in course in which AP was available? - and you write great essays, including explaining the challenges you faced as a freshman, you have a decent shot.

Im taking 5 APs, my only non APs are the periods for my show (advanced media) and leadership

What is the breakdown on your SAT scores? AP scores? SAT Subject Tests?

700 cr, 690 m, 710 wr, mostly 4s and 5s, 780 physics, 760 bio

So your SATs are good, not exceptional and not poor. Your Subject Tests are strong (although a math score would be nice).
Your transcript looks very solid, with the obvious example of a disastrous freshman year, which will have to be explained.
Your ECs are okay.
You’ll be in the mix as an interesting applicant whose numbers are not great, but potentially good enough. You need to write essays that knock it out of the park, and have solid recs that also explain your freshman year.

I actually think you have a great chance of getting in! My son is a current freshman at TUFTS with similar stats as yours. I think the freshman GPA is somewhat of a “non-issue” given the circumstances and you might even use that relating to one of your essays. The one thing I would advise is that you embrace your “show” experience and use it to let yourself shine! I do think that the majority of applicants to this type of school have almost identical “stats”, so your creativity in setting yourself apart from others has an enormous influence on their decisions. Imagine sifting through 17,000 applications (last years total!) with almost everyone having great scores/high GPAs/endless extracurricular activites, etc. They REALLY look for things to set you apart. Make them think twice and jump with joy when they read your essays and wonder WHERE you came from! Best of luck!
And P.S. If you get in, GO! My son is in HEAVEN there :)
