Chance me for UC Santa Barbara? I chance back :)

Hi guys I was wondering if you could chance me for UCSB. Here are my stats:

UC gpa: 3.67

ACT: 32

SAT II: Math 2: 790

USH: 780

ECs:

100 hours community service

Volunteered as a tutor in an official tutoring program in library

Worked as an intern/manager at a car dealership for over 100 hours

4 years as an officer of a club, 1 year being the VP of said club

Horseback riding

Play guitar

DECA club senior year

Tutoring program in hs for 50 hours

I know my gpa isnt the greatest, but do you guys think that my test scores and ec makeup for it? Thanks for your input!

Probs aim higher, UCSB in for sure.

in. Perhaps shoot for Berkeley or UCLA?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1198626-chance-me-will-chance-back.html

Yea should shoot for Berkeley/UCLA even with the low gpa.

Any other takers? I’m really worried that my gpa is gonna break me.

The GPA for UCLA and UCB is way too low. UCSB is going to be a slight reach, given that the average GPA for acceptances are 3.86 (see http://bap.ucsb.edu/IR/campusprofile/cp2010.pdf)

I’m not trying to sugar coat this for you like the previous posters have done. Your EC’s aren’t anything special, but it is good that you have them.

So in all honesty,

UCSB - Slight reach
UCB - Denied
UCLA - Denied

I agree I think UCSB will be just a slight reach but you have a good shot. You should try applying to UCSD as well, it’s just a bit more of a reach but you have a great shot also. You’re a good candidate for CalPoly SLO as well.

Here is the 2010 freshman profile; about 60 percent of applicants with UC GPA’s of 3.7 got in.
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/campuses/files/santabarbara.pdf

Try this:
http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/default.aspx

But OP’s GPA falls within the 3.3-3.69 range, in which 17.1% of applicants got in.

Not to mention that was in 2010, every year the UC’s are becoming harder to get into.

^^ Lol I love how your chancing this guy, when you asking to be chanced for the same schools…

I never asked for UCSB. I know my chances for UC schools, I just want to know what others think. Thank you for your input.

I think it’s most likely you’ll get accepted.

Obviously you know I meant LA and Cal… whatevs

That website also said that 86% of applicants that had a 31-36 ACT score got accepted. Man I’m so confused :(

Use STATFINDER

http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/default.aspx

Then just apply! What have you got to lose?

Well of course I’m gonna apply lol. I’m just really nervous that I won’t get accepted.

Pretty early to start with the nervousness!! Do you have a safety to love?

yeah I’m pretty sure I can get into UCSC UCM and UCR.

But UCSB is my dream school. I’m going to apply to there as first priority since my school counselor said that first pick makes a difference. And I know that I can write a really good essay on my interest in business.

“my school counselor said that first pick makes a difference”

How would that work? You hit submit, and all the UC choices go in at once.

Oh… Well looks like she lied then. Ah well. I’ll still write a great essay.
