@Mangiafuoco your stats are pretty good, what major did you apply for?

@seniorco2015‌
My SAT score is okay, but my GPA is bad. My intended major is civil engineering for UCD and computer science for the others.

As you already know, the UCs really care about GPA, so most of them rejected/waitlisted me. The same thing may happen to you. That is why I think you should apply to more schools outside the UC system.

Indiana University Bloomington
Penn State U Park
Tulane University
University of Michigan
University of Virginia (in-state)
University of Wisconsin
University of Miami
University of Texas, Austin
James Madison University (in-state)
Applied to all early action

Student in the very competitive Fairfax County VA
4.0 GPA weighted in a school that doesn’t do unweighted (1.0 boost for AP, 0.5 boost for Honors) and doesn’t class rank, 500 kids in the class, don’t know how much this matters but-- high school is #90 in the country, #3 in the state
Good ECs with leadership, work, and volunteer experience
Boys State VA participant
White
31 ACT
4 APs this year, 1 sophomore, 3 junior (8 total APs) and honors classes etc.
Nothing lower than a B
National Honor, DECA, the usual
Good essays (haha)

Scores thus far…AP World-4, AP Psych-5, AP US-4, AP Lang/Comp-4
Also, I have a very, very well-written recommendation by my tennis coach, in addition to teacher/counselor recs, whom I’ve known forever and knows me well as I’ve been captain Jr/Sr year

Be brutally honest please, thanks in advance!!
