Thank you to anyone that reads through this and chances me, it would mean a lot.

Forgot to include my intended major.

Intended Major: Public Health (B.S.)

You’ll be fine for UCSD, UCSB, UCI, UCD, UCR, USC, & northeastern
UCLA and UCB might be high matches, but you have a great chance.

@Dream0n‌
Don’t the UC’s place a lot of emphasis on GPA? I thought my GPA alone would make SD, LA, and Berkeley reaches.

Yeah they do. My friend just got into Berkeley biomedical or something with 1760 sats (LOL). But his GPA was 4.45, straight As. He actually didn’t even pass one of his AP tests. Also, he had like maybe on leadership position, and only skateboarding as his extra curriculur. But he had stellar essays, and that’s what got him in definitely. Focus on those essays, and you can get into any college you want to go to.

Could you please chance me back, too? Thanks!

You are correct. The UCs place a lot of emphasis on GPA. Your high SAT/ACT scores are almost useless for the UCs.

UCB - reach
UCLA - reach
UCSD - low reach
UCD - low reach
UCI - low reach
UCSB - match (UCSB seems to be more lenient to students with high SAT scores)
UCR - low match

It is good that you are applying to non-UC schools because your chances at the UCs are extremely low. I think you should try to apply to even more non-UC schools just in case.

.

bump

UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Low Reach/High Match
UCSB/UCI/UCD: High Match
UCSC/UCR: Match

Your test scores are great but UC GPA <4.0. You have awards and good EC’s. Write stellar essays and your reaches could become Matches. Good Luck.

Hey! Honestly, the UCs care more abt the # aspect, so I would say you are set for UCSD and likely to get into one of the two (UCB/UCLA) many people from my school with similar stats got one or the other but not both. UCD is practically a safety, as is anything “below”. You have some impressive ECs so just make sure to have great essays! Chance me back if you have a spare minute? Best of luck

bump .

@Gumbymom would my fully weighted UC GPA help me as opposed to my capped weighted?

Your UC GPA is on the cusp for UCSD.

All schools will recalculate your GPA, but the stats posted for the UC’s Freshman Profiles etc… is the UC GPA capped weighted, so going by that number, I would say UCSD is borderline for you in terms of admission just as DrGoogle noted. GPA is king for the UC’s, so I would say 50:50 for UCSD. UCD/UCI/UCSB would be a better matches and UCSB does like higher test scores while UCD/UCI likes the higher GPA.
A better indicator will be your unweighted since the common data sets for the UC’s use the unweighted out of 4.0.
Here is a link for UCSD:
<a href=“Undergraduate Statistics”>Undergraduate Statistics;
Average Unweighted GPA=4.0 with 86% of enrolled students with Unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher.
Good Luck.

@DrGoogle @Gumbymom‌

Thanks for the replies. I found an interesting link:
Academic Affairs;

in this, it states that Unweighted GPA and Uncapped Weighted are used for admission. This gives me some hope, haha.

My school sent about 50 kids to UCSD 2-3 years ago, with even more getting in. UCSD has really become my first choice at this point so this is somewhat heartening.

UCLA, Washington, BC, and northeastern might be bit of reaches, but the rest are matches. chance me back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1684824-chance-me-to-virginia-tech-georgia-tech-cal-poly-uiuc-usc-uc-berkeley-industrial-engineering.html#latest</a></p>

It’s best to check your school naviance. It varies from school to school. One of my kid’s school 130 kids were accepted to UCSD and another kid’s school about 10-20 were accepted. I lost the password so I can’t verify.
Some people were waitlisted from UCSD, rejected from UCLA but were accepted to UCB. So you never know. Just apply.

bump .

will chance back!

My stats:
3.66 unweighted
4.29 fully weighted
4.00 capped UC
2300 SAT

I was rejected/waitlisted by UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, and Cal Poly SLO.
