Chance me for UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Stanford? WILL CHANCE BACK~

I’m going to become an upcoming senior. Although I know that Stanford is definitely going to be a reach school, will I have some chance if I apply for EA at Stanford, or should I apply for EA at a different school? Also, will applying as an UNDECIDED major be worth it instead of applying as a bio or business major at these schools? Alright, here we gooo…

Ethnicity: Asian
10th-11th GPA: 3.77 UW, 4.25 W
10th GPA: 4.0 W
11th GPA: 4.5 W (upward trend i guess? lol)
ACT: 35C (34 E, 35 M, 36 R, 35 S)
SAT Subjects: 700 Bio E (going to retake)… ~Is it worth to take 2 SAT subject tests? Some colleges that I want to apply to say that they recommend it, but they don’t mention that they recommend it for my possible majors, such as biology or business~
AP’s: AP Human geo, AP Calc AB, APUSH, AP Bio, APES, AP Comp Sci, AP US Gov
HS Rank: Top 9% (my school doesn’t let us know what specific rank we’re in, so it’s either you’re in the top 9% of your grade or you’re not)
I also took one CC course, Intro to Bus, and got an A

E.C’s:
-President of Key Club, GenerationOn, and a Stock & Investment Club (all school clubs)
-HS soccer for 2 years and competitive club soccer for 3 years.
-HS track for 1 year
-HS band for 2 years
-NHS member for 3 years
-Coached elementary/middle-school kids soccer at a Korean-American soccer organization in a local city for 3-4 years.
-Internship at an import/export company for one summer.
-Worked as a regular employee at a web designing company with an average income (not minimum wage). I got recruited to web design for their company for 2 summers, since I couldn’t work during the school year. Although I have some interest and ability in computer graphic designs, I don’t wish to pursue this as a possible major of mine in college.
-Raised a collection drive for a non-profit organization (New Eyes) and collected hundreds of glasses during this summer, and looking forward to continue this project for a couple of more months into my senior year.
-Started an online business with a couple of my friends. It’s not finished yet, so we’re not sure if our business is going to be open to the public before application deadlines.

I might be missing some stuff, but don’t forget to ask any questions if needed. Thanks and please be honest!

Before you apply ED to Stanford, make sure Stanford has ED. It sounds like you haven’t done enough research on this.

@DrGoogle Oops, I meant to say EA. Thanks for the notification!

Stanford: High Reach (need a 3.9 unweighted to be competitive especially if you are going into buisness)
UCB: low Reach(assuming your in state)
UCLA: High Match(assuming your in state)
UCSD: Match(assuming your in state)
You have great EC’s and those internships will definetely help you for places like Stanford but remember UC’s dont care that much about EC’s
They are 70% academics, 30% EC’s
Also for Stanford is is MANDATORY to write a killer essay to have any shot at getting in.
Great ACT score
BTW have you considered adding USC to your list? I feel like your a perfect Match for them and they have a very good buisness program.

Stanford has no business school. UCB can’t apply to Haas as a freshman, it accepts as a junior.
Only USC has business for undergraduate and UCI.

@spamuser Thanks for the comment! Just wondering, would applying as undecided instead of business change my chances in any way for the UCs?

@ayyyyyyy
Yes applying as undecided would increases your chances however I would not recommend it. Once you go in as undeclared it is really hard to get into a major like buisness. At UCLA its hard enough to get classes that are in your major so imagine how hard it would be trying to get those classes as an undeclared major.

Just apply as a buisness major and see what you get. Apply to some middle tier UC’s like UCI or UCD for back-up.

I would take the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test… It’s a requirement/recommended for many of the top business programs. That being said, here’s your chances:

Stanford - high reach (need both incredible academics and incredible ECs as an Asian (and everyone else for that matter))
UCB - low reach
UCLA - high match/low reach
UCSD - match

These are assuming your living in CA
Good Luck!

Are you saying you’re applying undecided to the College of Letters and Sciences? If so, UCB, UCLA and UCSD would be easier to get into. College of Letters and Sciences is the least competitive colleges out of all of them for the UC’s.
I would recommend that you not apply Stanford SCEA as your GPA could use a boost from first semester senior grades. The early round is super competitive and @gibby posted once that you really need a 3.9 UW to be considered in the early round as the pool is just so competitive.

I would say you have a better shot applying RD than SCEA as getting all A’s first semester senior year will help a lot.

At UCSD you can apply to any major and won’t be rejected, you just get accepted as undeclared. It’s up to you to consider whether it’s a risk to attend the school as undeclared.

You had better have some back ups. Last year and the year before were quirky. You can’t assume you’ll get in to any of these.

@“aunt bea” Yeah of course, I’m planning to apply to some mid-tier UC’s and some other less competitive colleges out there as well. I just wanted to see where I stand atm because those are my most desired colleges.

Your chances are not good at Stanford. Too many kids from California applying to Stanford.

@DrGoogle How about the UCs (assuming that I go undeclared)?

You have a shot at UCSD, but GPA is a little low for. UCB and UCLA so focus on your essay. This is where applying to the least competitive major is the best route.

Stanford: High Reach (a lottery school for everyone)
UCB/UCLA: Low Reach
UCSD: High Match

Agree that USC would be a good match and UCI if you are interested in Business.

Good Luck.

With something like 5% acceptance rate, Stanford is a reach for all applicants.

You are a strong candidate for UCB,UCLA and UCSD but, these schools are also crazy competitive and could go either way. USC and UCI are good alternates for Biz.

You are applying to super competitive schools - add a few to your list. Perhaps Santa Clara and Cal Poly SLO.

Good luck
