I know these “What are my chances?” posts are pretty difficult to really determine, but I was just hoping for some input/opinions about my chances. I don’t know if the whole format of this “Chance Me” post is correct, but this is what I have. Specifically, I am planning on applying to Stanford, but this is just a “reach” school that I would love to go attend if accepted, but I am definitely not relying on it. Currently, I am a junior enrolled in 5 AP classes. The main points that I would highlight in my applications would be as follows (I’ve realized I do not have the extremely long list of awards/recognitions that others have developed, but I am dedicated to what I do):
4.0 (as of now) with mostly honors/AP classes
ACT: 33
PSAT: Tried for National Merit but have to wait for results next year
Potential majors: CSE/some form of engineering
Premier/ECNL female soccer player–> played ‘competitive’ soccer since 8 and been recognized/scouted (i.e. my premier coach in contact with Harvard recruiting)
Piano with ABRSM certificates of distinction level 5 and 8
Part of clubs (i.e. Mock Trial) and on board of one
NHS
Hispanic (I’ve heard this could potentially be of benefit)
Plan on internships next summer
Volunteer such as proctoring, local volunteer work, tutoring
I don’t know if these other extras help, but interests/hobbies include coaching, running (raced before), outdoor activities, etc.
I know from past posts and advice that schools such as Stanford really focus on and look for the unique quality that really separates students from others and provides diversity. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
