<p>Hello, I was wondering if any one out there could chance me...it would be appreciated, and I am out of state. I'm currently a Junior.</p>

3.6 W</p>
<p>ECs: Did some research with Physics teacher, and some research with Math teacher (differential geometry), Part time job (9th-10th), about 100 hours of community service, self-teaching Astrophysics 1(which is why my GPA is low...sadly), Part-Time Job in 9th and 10th grade (10-15 hours per week)</p>
<p>About my self-study...I talk regularly with UChicago professors with questions I have, and any conflicts that arise from teaching myself. So, hopefully over the course of the year, I will know them better...(maybe a recommendation could come out of it?)</p>
<p>SAT:
1st time. 2010 ( 750 M, 600 CR, 660 W)
Going to retake it in March hoping for 2100+</p>

<p>I would not say you are in excellent shape, but you can definitely contend with the applicant pool. You still have time to get your GPA higher, even though it will probably not rise too much. However, if you are able to really show yourself on the essay I think you could get into UChicago. Also your situation is more unique, and it shows a real passion for a subject. The school will understand as long as you show why it is important to you and how you want to continue it in college.</p>
<p>I was accepted with a 3.67 GPA and a 2010 SAT, so don’t be discouraged.</p>
<p>Definitely consider the EA option. In addition, I would strongly encourage you to focus on your grades in order to make any possible increases in GPA or to demonstrate an upward trend.</p>
<p>This is an interesting situation and therefore I’m not sure if anyone on CC can address your chances well. </p>
<p>Still, assuming that Chicago is your first choice (judging from your relationships with their professors), apply EA, make it absolutely clear you’d go if accepted and your passion and initiative in pursuing outside studies. That GPA may very well be the kiss of death though, no matter what you do…</p>
<p>Congrats on the high SAT, but don’t let it go to your head. Many applicants to Chicago have 2200+ and were rejected EA this year.</p>
<p>You NEED to get your GPA up. Finish your second semester with something close to 4.0 and you’ll have a chance in EA. UChicago will be even harder to get in next year.</p>
<p>UChicago is not and will never be my number one choice because of my GPA. I realize that my GPA sucks…I was just wondering what my chances would be with my new SAT score.</p>
<p>My GPA is terrible because of my study and I’m an underachiever (sort of). So, I know it’s a reach, which is why it’s not a number one choice. Even though, I would love to go there.</p>
<p>You seem to be in a similar boat that I was in when I applied EA. I got 760M 650R 590W, and my gpa was 3.4. I think my essays kicked butt tho, I really do think that’s the most important. However, RD is gonna be harder than EA. Good luck.</p>
<p>I think you have realistic goals. U of C is a reach for you, but you should still try because they love to see when pple have a passion for something, like you obviously do with physics, and a lot can depend on how you express yourself in the essay. I’m a current student but I got waitlisted initially when I applied RD. I had a similar SAT score
(2320) and a 3.6 gpa from an elite public school. The way that I distinguished myself was by doing research with a professor, founding clubs, and writing a giant history paper that won some awards. But most of that I did in senior year, including getting my gpa up. Just stay focused and use your last year in HS to do something to make yourself stand out and put emphasis on the individual.
