Extra Information about difficulty:
Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer my sophomore year second semester, so with my parents busy, I took a larger role in my household
My brother broke his arm the summer before my junior year and I had to take care of him to ensure he can avoid surgery.

Geez, this is a lot of information, but this is essentially me. All this information was on my UC App. Whether you skimmed it or read it thoroughly, please do leave your thoughts based on personal experience or prior knowledge as to how you think I will do at the UCLA admissions table. Thank you so much!

Edit: I was also a Semi-Finalist for the Posse Scholarship which I know has ties to UC Berkeley

Your unweighted GPA is in the 3.87 neighborhood
Weighted Capped is around 4.14
Weighted Uncapped is somewhere in the 4.3 range.

The median UC weighted capped for UCLA is around 4.25. So you’re a bit below the median. ACT is good for L&S, you’re probably in the 75% there. Rigor is quite good. ECs are solid. I would say it’s a reach, probably a 30-40% chance of getting in. UCLA is a hard place to get into, just tons of college application submittals with perfect 4.0 unweighted GPAs.

One really weird mathematical side effect phenomena of taking a lot of classes is that it limits how high your weighted capped GPA can go. Even if you would have gotten all As your weighted capped would be 4.27.

Thank you so much!

I would say you are a competitive applicant but always consider UCLA a Reach due to sheer # of applicants and the low acceptance rate.

Best of luck.

@10s4life I have seen you in other chance me threads, is there a possibility you can comment on this one? Thx

@UCLAwanderlust Nothing really to add other than you seem very qualified. Like @Gumbymom said its a reach due to the competitiveness of 120k freshman applying for around 18,000 admission spots for an eventual class of 6,500. There are people with lower stats that get in and higher stats that get denied so there is no way to tell. I don’t advocate for chancing as all it does is create anxiety in applicants since no one on these forums can know if you are getting in. It is up to the admission officer reading your app. Perfect SAT scores have been denied in the past so stats aren’t everything. Best of luck.

I appreceate your help!
