Played JV freshman and sophomore year; varsity junior and senior year. Qualified for CIF for the first time in the team’s history in the 2018 season. (9,10,11,12)
Founder, Finance Club
Founded club, recruited members, nurtured participation. Lead seminars and simulations for investments and stocks. Up to 30-member participation. (10,11,12)
Instrumental-Piano
Studied piano since 5th grade. Performed in recitals. Passed Level 7 with Branch Honors in 2016. Jumped 3 levels in two years and passed Level Advanced in 2018. (9,10,11)
Designed a Neutral-Based news media website
Designed the website. Write and edit articles. Recruited interested students to write unbiased news to help readers make informed opinions. 5000 views monthly. (11,12)
Unpaid Peer Tutoring/Coaching
Assist and tutor peers who struggle with core academic classes, such as math. Coach Academic Decathalon competitors on oration and speech techniques. (9,10,11,12)
CA 66th Assembly District
Voter research on South Bay cities. Attend monthly meetings. Volunteer for local campaigns and political events. (10,11,12)
Work Experience (these were essentially my summer activities):
Summer Intern/Camp Counselor
Implement Galileo Innovation approach to design study guides. Teach English to ELL. Create a safe and engaging learning environment for campers. (Summer before 12)
Accountant. Clerk-My City’s Finance Department
YDP internship. Managed and documented city income classified data. Recorded business licenses in database. Mailed out bills to customers for timely processing (Summer Before 11th).
I feel very confident about my essays as they truly portray who I am. I wrote about my experiences of being a debate captain (Essay #1), my love for learning about government and politics (Essay #6), my ability to be a good mentor (Essay #3), and why I made my website and its impact in my community (Essay #7).
Extra Information about difficulty:
Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer my sophomore year second semester, so with my parents busy, I took a larger role in my household
My brother broke his arm the summer before my junior year and I had to take care of him to ensure he can avoid surgery.
