Chance Me for UCLA and USC With Psychology Major Please

Hi guys! I’m a hopeful UCLA or USC (UCLA first choice) student applying for Fall 2016 as a transfer student from a ccc. I’m so nervous! I’ve been reading these chance threads for the past few nights trying to find one similar to mine but couldn’t, so here we go! Thanks in advance!

Major: Psychology

GPA: 3.95

Major GPA: 4.0

ECs: not too many except for being a volunteer counseler for TeenCentral.org.

Personal statements: id say pretty good, still have some revising to do.

Other Circumstances:

  • I’m the first person to go to college from my family.
  • came to America as a refugee when I was 7.
  • I come from a single parent home with low income which means I’ve been working since I was 16.
  • working 25-28 hours a week while going to school for the past 3 years.
  • overcame severe depression

I think you have a good chance, your circumstances will definitely help especially with securing financial aid. You’re already doing well at ccc so that should be an asset too.
